Kash Mayfield Lands on Minor-League Injured List With Hamstring Injury
Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Kash Mayfield (hamstring) was placed on the seven-day minor-league injured list on Tuesday, according to Emily Walden. Mayfield hasn't taken the mound since July 24 due to a lingering hamstring injury. The team has decided to place him on the shelf and give him time to rest and fully recover. Mayfield was acquired by the Tigers in the deal that sent Casey Mize to the San Diego Padres at the trade deadline. The left-hander was a first-round pick of the Padres in the 2024 draft. This season, Mayfield owns a 3.54 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 62/22 K/BB ratio across 15 starts in High-A Fort Wayne this season. The 21-year-old still needs to develop some more before making an impact in Detroit.
