Carlos Cortes, Athletics

Athletics outfielder Carlos Cortes has quickly gained fantasy value with his red-hot start to the season. Over the last two weeks, Cortes is 20-for-40 at the plate with three home runs and seven RBI. During that span, Cortes was just shy of top-30 value, which is quite impressive. The only downside is that Cortes is likely going to continue being a platoon bat going forward. That means he'll basically only start against right-handed pitching.

Despite that, Cortes is still worth rostering in at least deep leagues at the moment. He brings enough upside with the bat to outweigh the fact that he's strictly a platoon bat.

Spencer Torkelson, Detroit Tigers

Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson got off to a brutal start to the 2026 season, failing to hit a home run through his first 86 plate appearances of the year. However, the 26-year-old burst out of his early-season power outage in a big way, going deep in five consecutive games from April 22 to April 26. Across 124 plate appearances overall, Torkelson is hitting .233/.363/.437 with five home runs, 12 RBI, and 12 runs scored.

While Torkelson's 27.4% strikeout rate limits his batting average upside, his 14.5% barrel rate is indicative of his significant power potential. Torkelson has also walked at a 16.1% clip so far this year, which should help keep his place in the Tigers' lineup secure. For fantasy managers searching for power off the waiver wire, Torkelson is a logical target.

Carter Jensen, Kansas City Royals

Across 111 plate appearances so far in 2026, Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen is hitting .235/.315/.439 with six home runs, 16 RBI, and 13 runs scored. The 22-year-old's elevated 29.7% strikeout rate is a red flag in his profile, limiting his batting average upside. However, Jensen's 12.1% barrel rate and 45.5% hard-hit rate are indicators of intriguing power potential.

Jensen has also established himself as an everyday staple in the Kansas City lineup, rotating between catcher and designated hitter duties with veteran Royals backstop Salvador Perez. For fantasy managers looking for power off the waiver wire, Jensen is a logical target.
