The San Francisco 49ers opened linebacker Fred Warner's (ankle) 21-day practice window on Tuesday and hope that he'll be available to play in the NFC Championship game if the team advances past the division-rival Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this Saturday, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Warner is taking part in the 49ers' walkthrough practice on Tuesday, but he won't be activated from Injured Reserve to play against Seattle this weekend. The 29-year-old fractured and dislocated his right ankle back in Week 6, and he's been out ever since. Warner said that if it were up to him, he'd play this weekend. Warner's return would be a huge boost to a banged-up 49ers defense, but they'll have to get past the top-seeded Seahawks this weekend first. The four-time All-Pro linebacker had 51 tackles (28 solo), three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in six games in 2025 before his injury.--Keith Hernandez
