Who has gotten off to an impressive start? Which teams are free-falling in our rankings? Throughout the opening month, several rookies have emerged as legit contributors and played a key role in some surprising early-season results.
All statistics and team records mentioned are updated as of Monday, November 10. Let's dive in!
No. 32- Calgary Flames
As expected, the Calgary Flames hold the bottom spot on our list. While they opened the week with an impressive 5-1 victory over the Blue Jackets, they took a big step back on Friday, falling to the Blackhawks by a score of 4-0.
On Sunday, the Flames dropped another game, falling ot the Wild by a score of 2-0. Blake Coleman is the only forward with six or more goals on the roster, and Nazem Kadri leads the team in total points.
No. 31 - St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues continue to sit near the bottom of our power rankings. This week, the Blues played four games and posted a 2-1-1 record. Their victories came against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday and the Buffalo Sabers on Thursday. They were also able to escape with a point in their overtime loss to the Kraken.
Despite this improvement, they sit near the bottom of the Western Conference and enter the new week holding a -19 GD.
No. 30 - Nashville Predators
The Predators had a rough showing in Week 5. While they lost all four games, they earned two loser points in overtime losses to the Vancouver Canucks and the Minnesota Wild. Their two regulation losses came at the hands of the Flyers and the Stars.
While they have totaled 44 goals through five weeks, their goaltending and defense remain significant weaknesses. Through 17 games, they have needed a hefty 59 goals. Netminder Juuse Saros has posted a poor .891% SV% over his last six outings.
No. 29 - Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres were unable to get in the win column this week, but did tally a point in their overtime loss to the Utah Mammoth on Tuesday evening. On Thursday and Saturday, they fell to the St. Louis Blues and the Carolina Hurricanes in regulation. This was a bit of a step back for the Sabres, who had been coming off impressive victories the week before.
Entering the new week, the Sabres hold a 5-6-4 record, which puts them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
No. 28 - Florida Panthers
The Panthers had mixed results during their California trip. They went 1-2 with the lone victory coming over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. They fell to both the Ducks and the Sharks in regulation on Tuesday and Saturday.
While they have numerous injuries to key players on their roster, they enter Week 6 with a very underwhelming 7-7-1 record. Overall, they have posted a -6 GD and scored just 40 total goals, the fourth-lowest mark in the league.
No. 27 - Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets played only two games this week as they spent much of the week traveling to Western Canada. They began their week on Wednesday with a tough 5-1 loss to the Calgary Flames. Then on Saturday, they dropped their second game (5-4) to the Canucks in regulation.
This brings them to a 7-7 record through their first 14 games. They will continue their western trip this coming week with a matchup against the Oilers and Kraken before heading back East. While they have hit a bit of a slump, Kirill Marchenko has continued to produce as he enters the new week, holding a seven-game point streak.
No. 26 - Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks showed some signs of progress this week. They opened up with a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory over the Predators on Monday before falling to the Blackhawks, but then rebounded on Saturday to take down the Blue Jackets. On Sunday, they were able to escape with a loser point against the Avalanche.
Star defenseman Quinn Hughes has tallied two points and added 11 hits with five blocks over his first three games since returning from injury.
No. 25 - Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers couldn't get into the win column and took a steep fall in our rankings. They began this week with a 3-2 loss ot the Blues but tallied a loser point against the Stars on Tuesday. However, their week ended with an embarrassing 9-1 loss to the Avalanche on Saturday.
As expected, goaltending is a major problem for this club. They have allowed a very high 57 goals. Over his last six outings, Stuart Skinner has surrendered 19 goals and held a 3.39 GAA. While the offense remains elite, their goaltending will continue to hinder their upside.
No. 24 - New York Rangers
The Rangers posted an impressive 4-1 victory over the Red Wings on Friday, but had two other disappointing showings this week. On Tuesday, they fell 3-0 to the Hurricanes, and on Saturday evening at home, they were shut out by the Islanders. This brings them a modest 7-7-2 record during their first month with Mike Sullivan behind the bench.
While Igor Shesterkin has continued to perform at a high level, the team's No. 2 netminder, Jonathan Quick, is quietly putting together a dominant season at age 39, holding a 1.27 GAA with a .950% SV%.
No. 23 - New York Islanders
The Islanders have continued to show inconsistent performances throughout the first month of the campaign. They began their week with a shootout loss to the surging Bruins, but then fell to the Wild in regulation on Friday. However, they bounced back on Saturday with a critical 5-0 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
They hold a 7-6-2 record with a -1 GD. Bo Horvat has been red-hot in the scoring department, posting two multi-goal performances this week. Overall, he has scored 11 goals in 15 games.
Bo Horvat's 11th has him tied with Crosby, Gauthier & Caufield for the #NHL lead.

No. 22 - Washington Capitals
The Capitals began their week with a statement 5-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. However, like they have been throughout most of October, following a strong showing, they quickly took a step back. They fell to the Penguins 4-3 on Thursday and then dropped their second-straight game in regulation to the Lightning on Saturday.
Scoring has been an issue for this club, but their starting netminder, Logan Thompson, has not. Thompson enters Week 6 boasting an elite .930% SV% and a 1.61 GAA.
No. 21 - Minnesota Wild
After dropping two of their three games last weekend, the Wild needed to rebound in Week 5. Fortunately, they showed some signs of growth, taking down the Predators and the Islanders to open the week. While they fell to the Eastern powerhouse Hurricanes on Thursday, they closed out their week with a shutout victory over the Flames on Sunday.
Star winger Kirill Kaprizov has continued to light up the scoreboard. Over his last eight games, the 28-year-old has found the back of the net five times and added six helpers.
No. 20 - San Jose Sharks
After taking a jump in last week's rankings, the Sharks stayed hot and continued to climb the Western leaderboard. This week, the Sharks went a perfect 3-0 and defeated all opponents in regulation. Their most impressive showing was against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, when they beat the Western juggernauts 2-1.
Macklin Celebrini has yet to slow down and is the breakout star of the opening month, tallying an impressive 24 points (10 goals) through 16 games.
No. 19 - Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs began their week with a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over the Penguins on Monday. In this gam, the Leafs scored four straight goals in the final frame. Then on Wednesday, they took down the Mammoth 5-3. However, they would then drop their next two games to close out the week.
The Leafs hold a modest 8-7-1 record. While they have shown flashes at times, they have been unable to sustain extended success, which keeps them towards the middle of the pack.
No. 18 - Detroit Red Wings
One of the biggest fallers this past week was the Detroit Red Wings. After entering Week 5 carrying a 9-4 record, they dropped three games in regulation to fall to 9-7. They were shut out by the Golden Knights on Tuesday and scored just two goals in their final two games against the Rangers and Blackhawks.
Goaltending remains a major issue for this club, as both John Gibson and Cam Talbot will carry save percentages below .900% into the new week.
No. 17 - Los Angeles Kings
The Kings went 2-1 this past week and took a nice step forward in the Western Conference. They opened their week with an impressive 3-0 victory over the Jets, but fell to the Panthers in regulation on Thursday. However, they rebounded well and defeated the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Sunday to close out their week.
Adrian Kempe remains the heartbeat of the Los Angeles offense, scoring six goals and adding 11 assists through his first 15 contests.
No. 16 - Philadelphia Flyers
Following a tough 2-1 loss to the Flames to close out last week, the Flyers bounced back in a big way in Week 5. Through three games, the Flyers posted a 2-0-1 record and are now in striking distance of the top-3 in the Metropolitan Division. They opened the week with a victory over the Canadiens and then took down Nashville by a score of 3-1.
Their overtime loss came on Saturday at the hands of the Senators. After a slow start, Matvei Michkov may have found his shot, netting goals in back-to-back games.
No. 15 - Utah Mammoth
The Mammoth were able to snap their two-game losing skid early in the week with an overtime victory over the Sabres on Tuesday evening. However, they ran into trouble in Eastern Canada, falling to the Leafs and Canadiens on Wednesday and Saturday.
They concluded their Canadian road trip on Sunday with a trip to Ottawa, where they dropped their third straight in regulation, by a score of 4-2. Following their hot start, the Mammoth appear to have hit a bit of a skid. They return home on Wednesday with a perfect get-right match against the Sabres.
No. 14 - Chicago Blackhawks
While their week began with a disappointing 3-1 loss to the Kraken, Connor Bedard and company rattled off three-straight victories to bring themselves to a solid 8-5-3 record through their first 16 games of play. In the final two games of the week, they surrendered just one total goal and scored nine (against the Flames and Red Wings).
Bedard continues to dominate and emerge as one of the sport's top players. The former first overall pick has scored nine goals and tallied an eye-catching 16 helpers through 16 games.
On Connor Bedard’s goal last night, he stripped the puck and then sprung himself on a breakaway with a backhand, through-the-legs self pass.

No. 13 - Ottawa Senators
The Senators opened their week with two overtime battles. While they fell to the Bruins in the extra frame on Thursday, they were able to knock down the Flyers in overtime on Saturday. On Sunday, they stayed hot, defeating the Mammoth 4-2, bringing them to an 8-5-3 record through five weeks of play.
After scoring just two goals over his first nine games, Tim Stützle has slowly begun to find his footing. Over his last seven games, the former third overall pick has scored an eye-catching six goals and tallied an additional three assists.
No. 12 - Seattle Kraken
The Kraken dropped their final two games last week in overtime, but got back on track this week. Seattle opened the week with a strong 3-1 victory over the struggling Blackhawks but fell 6-1 to the Sharks on Wednesday. However, on Saturday, they defeated the Blues in overtime and finished their week with a tough 2-1 loss to the Stars.
The Kraken took a tough blow on Saturday when their top goaltender, Joey Daccord, was placed on the injured reserve. Philipp Grubauer and Matt Murray figure to lead the Seattle crease for the foreseeable future. Daccord was on pace to enjoy a career season, and his absence could be a detrimental blow to this club.
No. 11 - Boston Bruins
The Bruins had a very productive week and find themselves in the top half of the Eastern Conference. After winning their final three games last week, the Bruins stayed hot, picking up another three-game winning streak this week to bring them to a solid 10-7 record.
While they went to overtime in two of these victories, they continue to show improvement each week. Their regulation win came against the Leafs on Saturday evening. David Pastrnak continues to carry the offense on his own, tallying 19 points (eight goals) through 17 games.
No. 10 - Tampa Bay Lightning
It's fair to say their slow start is quite behind them. The Lightning continued to find their stride this week, posting a 2-1 record. The lone loss came at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche in Denver on Tuesday. They concluded the week with two victories over the Golden Knights (in Vegas) and a home victory over the Capitals.
Andrei Vasilevskiy has played a lead role in their quick turnaround, posting a dominant 5-1 record over his last six games with a .923% SV% and a 2.00 GAA.
No. 9 - Winnipeg Jets
After a dominating victory over the Penguins last Saturday, the Jets sat near the top of the power rankings last week. However, they took a bit of a fall in Week 5, dropping their first two games in regulation to the Sharks and the Kings. During these games, their offense was shut down as they scored just one total goal.
Then on Sunday, their slump continued as they fell to the surging Anaheim Ducks. In this game, the Jets scored just one goal and allowed four. They carry a modest 9-6 record into Week 6, the fourth-highest mark in their division.
No. 8 - Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins took a slight drop this past week, but continue to exceed expectations. This week, the Penguins began with a disappointing 4-3 loss to the Leafs but rebounded nicely with a victory over the Capitals on Thursday. On Saturday, they fell to the Devils in a shootout, and on Sunday, they dropped another game in regulation to the Kings.
Potential rookie of the year candidate Ben Kindel continues to improve as he enters the new week with five goals and two assists over his first 14 NHL contests.
No. 7 - Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights had a modest 1-1-1 record this week but still sit near the top of the Western Conference. Through 14 games, they have posted a 7-3-4 record. Their lone victory this week came against the Red Wings (1-0) on Tuesday evening.
Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner continue to light up the scoreboard for the Knights on a daily basis. Throughout the first month, the pair have combined for an impressive 40 points and 12 goals.
No. 6 - Dallas Stars
The Stars found themselves in high-scoring affairs to open the week. On Tuesday, they took down the Oilers in a shootout (4-3), but would then fall to the high-flying Ducks on Thursday by a score of 7-5. Then on Saturday, the Stars continued to light up the scoreboard, netting five goals en route to taking down the Predators.
The Stars concluded their week with a strong 2-1 victory over the Kraken. They enter Week 6 holding a 9-4-3 record, putting them in second place in the Central Division.
No. 5 - Carolina Hurricanes
Following a string of disappointing losses last week, the Hurricanes quickly rounded into form. They began their week with an impressive 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers at MSG on Tuesday. Then on Thursday, they picked up another victory, this time over the Wild, and stayed hot on Saturday, knocking down the Sabres.
They concluded their week with a 5-4 victory over the Leafs on Sunday evening. Seth Jarvis continues to be the spark plug of the offense, entering the new week with an impressive 10 goals to his name, through just 15 games of action.
No. 4 - Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks finished last week with three straight victories and carried that momentum right into Week 5. They opened the week by defeating several top teams, like the Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, and the Florida Panthers. In these three games, the Ducks scored 18 goals while allowing 11.
Then on Sunday, the Ducks continued to impress with what could be their most dominant victory of the young season, taking down the Jets 4-1. 20-year-old Leo Carlsson is enjoying a massive breakout campaign as he enters Week 6 with 10 goals and 15 helpers in just 15 games of play.

— NHL (@NHL) November 10, 2025
The Ducks appear to be out of their rebuild and emerging as legit contenders in the Western Conference.
No. 3- Montreal Canadiens
Even though the Canadiens posted a modest 1-0-2 record, they picked up two loser points and remained near the top of the standings. Their two loser points came against the Flyers and the Eastern heavyweight New Jersey Devils. However, they concluded their week with an impressive 6-2 victory over the Mammoth.
Cole Caufield has found the back of the net 12 times through just 15 games, while the team captain, Nick Suzuki, has tallied 20 points over this stretch.
No. 2- New Jersey Devils
The Devils remain "the team to beat" in the Eastern Conference. This week, the Devils played in just two games but also took down two of the top teams in the conference. On Thursday, they knocked down the Canadiens in overtime, and then on Saturday defeated the Penguins in a shootout.
This was a strong bounce-back week for them as they hit a bit of a stumble during their western road trip last weekend. They entered Week 6 carrying an 11-4 record.
No. 1 - Colorado Avalanche
Once again, the Colorado Avalanche hold the top spot on our list. This week, the Avalanche went 3-0 and entered Week 6 with just one regulation loss. They potentially had the most impressive victory of the young season on Saturday, taking down the Edmonton Oilers 9-1.
Nathan MacKinnon remains the clear favorite for the Hart Trophy as he scored the back of the net 14 times and added 15 helpers through 16 games.
