While New York Giants fans have not savored many victories the past two years, they have had reason to be excited about young stars like RB Cam Skattebo, WR Malik Nabers, and QB Jaxson Dart.
Unfortunately, Nabers and Skattebo have both gotten injured, and the Giants must turn to replacements to try to give Dart the space to develop.
With Skattebo set to miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury, should you pick up Devin Singletary or Tyrone Tracy Jr. going into Week 9 and beyond? Let's dive in.

Devin Singletary Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Singletary was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He led the team in rushing yards in his rookie year while splitting carries with a 36-year-old Frank Gore.
He averaged 5.1 yards per attempt, scoring two touchdowns as a rookie, and caught 29 passes for 194 yards and two more touchdowns. But Singletary did not match that same level of efficiency in subsequent years, and he never became a bell cow, as he split carries with other backs like Zack Moss.
After his rookie season ended, he joined the Houston Texans for one year, where he set a career high in carries and rushing yards but had his lowest per-carry average of his career. His production continued to decline with the New York Giants and, last season, he lost the starting job to rookie running back Tyrone Tracy.
Tyrone Tracy Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Tracy had an interesting collegiate career. He took advantage of COVID and transfer rules and played wide receiver for the Iowa Hawkeyes for four seasons before jumping to Purdue, where he switched to running back. As a rusher, he was extremely efficient, leading the Big Ten with 6.3 yards per carry in his final senior season.
Still, Tracy did not get much of a workload. In his six seasons, he only carried the ball 146 times. A full-time starting running back has more carries than that in a single season. Ashton Jeanty had almost three times as many touches as a senior.
The New York Giants took a shot on Tracy, drafting him earlier than expected, in the fifth round. By Week 5, he took over as the Giants' starting running back and ran for 129 yards on 18 carries.
It was the first of his three 100-yard rushing games. He finished the year with 839 rushing yards, 810 of them coming after Week 4, and he would have been on pace for a 1,000-yard season if he had started all 17 games.
Early on in 2025, Tracy struggled, missed two games, and lost carries to Skattebo, who would take over as the starting running back.
Should I Pickup Devin Singletary or Tyrone Tracy For Fantasy Football?
The situation in the Giants' backfield is a clear case of Tracy moving up to the RB1 role and Singletary becoming the RB2. Tracy is the running back to prioritize if he's available, and Singletary is only worth stashing in leagues with 14 or more teams or leagues with deep rosters.
After Skattebo went down in New York's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Tracy was on the field for 28 of the Giants' final 36 snaps. Since Tracy was the starter last season and has been ahead of Singletary on the depth chart, there is every reason to believe Tracy will remain the starter now.

Neither Tracy nor Singletary played particularly well. Tracy gained 24 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for 11 yards. Singletary gained 22 yards on seven carries and caught one pass for a five-yard loss.
Their opponents, the Eagles, have some talent on their defense, but they rank slightly below average in rushing yards per game and per attempt allowed, so it's not as if the two backs were stifled by an iron curtain.
Still, Tracy has shown he can have big games once in a while, and he will have a lot of volume as a starter. He will be viable as a flex in various weeks depending on bye weeks and injury considerations.
