Should I drop Evan Engram for fantasy football Week 4? Is Evan Engram a safe player to cut? Read the fantasy football waivers outlook.
When the Broncos signed Evan Engram this offseason, fantasy managers were optimistic that Sean Payton would finally unlock his potential in Denver’s offense. With the available targets in the offense and the inevitable breakout of Bo Nix, Engram was targeted as a top 10 tight end in fantasy drafts.
Just three weeks into the season, Engram has been almost invisible in the box score and has taken a clear backseat in the Broncos’ offense, which has struggled to begin the 2025 season.
Now, fantasy managers are left with the big question: Is it time to drop Evan Engram in fantasy football, or should you remain patient?

Should I Drop Evan Engram in Fantasy Football?
Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram entered 2025 as one of the more intriguing fantasy options at the position. After signing with Denver, there was buzz that Sean Payton would use him in the coveted “Joker” role, a spot previously reserved for versatile playmakers like Alvin Kamara, Reggie Bush, and Darren Sproles.
However, three weeks into the season, that hype has quickly fizzled. Engram has just four catches for 33 yards across his first two games and missed Week 3’s loss to the Chargers with a back injury. More concerning than the lack of production is his usage.
Engram has logged only a 38% snap share, a drastic drop from his career average of 75% over his first eight seasons. Veteran Adam Trautman has handled the bulk of tight end duties thanks to his superior run-blocking ability, leaving Engram as more of a situational player than a featured weapon.
So let’s talk about it

The outlook doesn’t get much brighter when you factor in quarterback play. Bo Nix is showing signs of a sophomore slump, averaging just 5.6 yards per attempt (sixth-lowest in the NFL) with a QBR of 83.4 (ninth-worst). Even if Engram’s snaps were to rise, the current passing game environment in Denver is far from favorable.
In Jacksonville, Engram was propped up by heavy usage, but in Denver he doesn’t even have that safety net. What looked like a potential breakout fit in Sean Payton’s scheme has instead turned into one of the bigger early-season fantasy disappointments. For fantasy managers, the verdict is clear: Engram is a player that should be dropped in all but the deepest leagues.
Who Should I Pickup for Fantasy Football?
There are a few tight ends who could garner big roles in their offenses and could be solid streaming options at the tight end position.
The first is New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry. Henry is currently the TE3 overall in fantasy and is established connection with second-year quarterback Drake Maye should not go unnoticed. Henry is currently owned in 61% of Yahoo leagues, and if available, should be considered when replacing Engram.
Another option at the tight end position could be Baltimore Ravens Isaiah Likely. Likely has missed the first three week with a foot injury, but is gearing up for a return in Week 4. Likely has been pushed for more work in the passing game, and could be a big factor in the Ravens passing attack in 2025.
If you need a crazy deep-sleeper, how about Chargers rookie tight end Oronde Gadsden. In his first career game, Gadsden had five catches on seven targets for 46 yards, on just 26% of the snaps. Gasdsen could be a deeper option, that should have an increased role later in the season.
