Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Brock Bowers, TE, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) was limited in practice all week but was removed from Friday's final Week 3 injury report and will play on Sunday against the hosting Washington Commanders, per The Athletic's Ben Standig.
Bowers injured his knee in the season-opening win over the New England Patriots and then was questionable for Monday night in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The 22-year-old ended up suiting up and caught five of his eight targets for just 38 yards in a 20-9 loss. It appears that Bowers is improving regarding his knee injury, and he should be a full-go in a good matchup against Washington.
Despite Bowers' disappointing Week 2 performance, he needs to be locked into all starting fantasy lineups for Week 3 and could easily post his second 100-yard game of the 2025 season.
Evan Engram, TE, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos have ruled out tight end Evan Engram (back) from their Week 3 contest this Sunday on the road against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
While Engram was quiet in his first two games with the team and is now set to miss Week 3, head coach Sean Payton said on Friday that the 31-year-old veteran is expected to be a big part of the offense this year. We'll believe it when we see it. The former first-rounder only played in nine games due to injury last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he caught just four of six targets for 33 yards in the first two games this year.
Engram's next chance to play will be in Week 4 on Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, where he'll be a TE2 in fantasy if he recovers from his back injury. With Engram out this weekend, Adam Trautman will be Denver's TE1. Fantasy managers should be able to find better streaming options.
Jeremy McNichols, RB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders running back Jeremy McNichols will likely see more work as the team's primary pass-down back in Week 3 against Las Vegas. With Austin Ekeler lost for the season, McNichols is the most capable option to step in and try to match his production.
McNichols has shown to be very stout as a pass blocker and has earned the coaches' trust in that aspect. His role will likely be mostly on third-downs and occasionally mixing in for Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Chris Rodriguez Jr. McNichols will be alongside Marcus Mariota, who is filling in for an injured Jayden Daniels.
The well-traveled NFL veteran earned some snaps with Mariota last season against Carolina and had a solid day, rushing for 42 yards on seven carries. McNichols is worth keeping an eye on to see what the Washington backfield looks like without Ekeler, but he shouldn't be in many Week 3 lineups.
Kyle Monangai, RB, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai is quietly carving out a role in the backfield. For a seventh-round pick, earning early trust isn't easy, but Monangai has quickly impressed both coaches and teammates.
He played 42% of the snaps in Week 3, totaling eight touches for 36 yards against a stout Detroit Lions run defense. Head coach Ben Johnson singled him out as one of the few bright spots in the loss. With Roschon Johnson nearly phased out of the offense, Monangai looks set to serve as a complementary back behind D'Andre Swift, who is currently questionable with a hamstring injury after limited practice all week. Dallas' defense has struggled early in 2025, giving Monangai a potential opportunity to build on his momentum.
If D'Andre Swift is inactive, Kyle Monangai immediately becomes a must-start RB3 and a player who should be rostered in all leagues. If Swift plays, Monangai slides back into his complementary RB2 role and remains a streaming option for Week 3.
Kaleb Johnson, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Kaleb Johnson is expected to be a healthy scratch for Sunday's game, according to a source at Steelers Depot. The team elevated running back Trey Sermon from the practice squad on Saturday, a strong indication that Johnson will be a healthy scratch.
The third-round pick out of Iowa has had a limited role in the first two weeks, logging just two rushes for negative one yard. His inactive status follows a notable special teams gaffe last week, in which he failed to field a kickoff, resulting in a Seattle touchdown.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has stated that Johnson "will likely not return kickoffs in the short term," further cementing his demotion. Johnson holds no fantasy value at this time and can be left on waivers or stashed in deeper leagues.
