Luis Garcia Transferred to 60-Day Injured List, Done for Season
Luis Garcia (elbow) to the 60-day injured list, ending his season. Garcia underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2023 and took longer than expected to recover. After more than two full years on the shelf, Garcia made a long-awaited return to the majors on Sept. 1. However, he had to leave his second start on Sept. 9 with elbow discomfort, leading the Astros to place him on the 15-day IL on Wednesday. There's no word on the severity of the 28-year-old's injury or whether it will affect his availability for the 2026 campaign. Garcia impressed over 7 2/3 innings this year, especially after such a long layoff, as he allowed three runs on three hits and totaled seven strikeouts against one walk.
