Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickups - Darnell Mooney, Cedric Tillman, Christian Kirk Fantasy Outlooks

Cedric Tillman - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Week 2 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Darnell Mooney, Cedric Tillman, Christian Kirk in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

After a wild opening week, fantasy managers may be dealing with numerous injuries. Wide receivers Drake London (shoulder) and Xavier Worthy (shoulder) are just a few at the position who could be in danger of missing time.

In this piece, we will look at three wide receivers who could be intriguing with their targets and provide solid production in the near future.

Are Darnell Mooney, Cedric Tillman, and Christian Kirk worth adding off the waiver wire in Week 2? Here are the latest outlooks on each for fantasy football.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Darnell Mooney Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 55% of leagues

Baller Move: Add in All Leagues

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mooney (shoulder) was unable to suit up in the season opener, but should be in a good position to suit up in Week 2 when the Falcons face the Minnesota Vikings. Leading up to Week 1, Mooney was listed as a game-time decision and almost was able to suit up, suggesting he should be in a great position to play next Sunday.

More importantly, in their Week 1 contest, top wideout London suffered a shoulder injury. While London is expected to be cleared to play in Week 2, he could face a setback or a limited snap count, which would open a significant role for Mooney. In this game, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is leaning heavily on London, targeting him 15 times.

In 2024, Mooney enjoyed a strong debut season in Atlanta, tallying 992 and five scores on six receptions, despite playing as the clear No. 2 option to London. For most of the season, the Falcons had subpar QB play by Kirk Cousins, but Penix has shown a willingness to push the ball downfield, which will put Mooney in an excellent environment for his fantasy outlook.

Heading into Week 2, managers should check their waiver wire, as many impatient managers may have cut ties with a potential 1,000-yard pass catcher due to an injury. When healthy, he carries WR3 value playing in a potent offense and serving as the clear No. 2 option for an emerging young quarterback who is on track to enjoy a breakout season.

Cedric Tillman Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 30% of leagues

Baller Move: Add in 10+ Team Leagues

Despite falling to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1, the Cleveland Browns looked quite productive under veteran Joe Flacco. Flacco enjoyed a strong stretch in 2023 when he led the Browns to the postseason and appears to have picked up where he left off.

In this game, Flacco threw the ball 45 times and threw 290 yards with a 1:2 TD:INT. Flacco spread the ball around to all of his pass catchers, as both wideouts, Jerry Jeudy and Tillam, saw eight targets apiece. However, Tillman was the one to find the end zone as he tallied 52 yards and a score on his five receptions.

Can fantasy managers trust his production going forward?

The 25-year-old has flashed immense upside at times, but has often been slowed down by injuries. Last season, from Weeks 7 through 11 (four games), Tillman saw 10.0 targets per game and tallied 75.5 yards per game. However, his breakout was cut short as he suffered a season-ending concussion in Week 12.

While Flacco could eventually lose his job to the two rookies behind him, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, for the time being, Tillman carries high-end WR3 upside as Flacco should continue to push the ball downfield as the Broncos will likely be trailing in most games this season. He is worth starting in all 12-team leagues in Week 2.

Christian Kirk Waiver Wire Outlook

Rostered: 40% of leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

The final wide receiver we will take a look at is Kirk of the Houston Texans. Kirk, like Mooney, was unable to play in the season opener as he was sidelined with a hamstring injury. However, given that Kirk was unable to practice all week, he could be in danger of sitting out in Week 2 as well.

Despite this, fantasy managers in 3-WR leagues should still consider adding Kirk off the waiver wire while he remains sidelined.

During their Week 1 loss to the Rams, the Texans' offense struggled, as they were unable to find the back of the end zone and scored only nine points (all on field goals). In this contest, the Texans' wideouts combined for a mere 121 yards, with rookie Jayden Higgins leading the way with 32 yards.

Kirk dealt with injuries last season as well, but was effective when on the field, tallying 47.4 yards per game while seeing 7.2 targets per game in the five games in which he saw more than 35 offensive snaps. In 2023, Kirk was quite productive, tallying 787 yards and three touchdowns.

Given that rookie Jaylin Noel was not overly productive in his debut, Kirk should not face much competition to enter the starting lineup immediately. Serving as C.J. Stroud's slot wideout, Kirk should provide high-end flex value in PPR formats once he returns to the field.
