SF Chronicle's Susan Slusser reported on Monday that San Francisco Giants outfielder Jerar Encarnacion (hamstring) is currently working out in Sacramento and could begin playing games with the Triple-A team by the end of the week. Encarnacion was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to August 7 with a right hamstring strain. The 27-year-old has also spent time on the IL with a left hand fracture and a left oblique strain. He did not have much to show in his 10 games with the Giants this season, but he did put together a solid .313/.410/.552 slash line in 78 plate appearances at Triple-A. Encarnacion has shown some power upside throughout his career, but there may not be much time for him to make a potential fantasy impact once he is fully healthy.--Connelly Doan
