The Kansas City Royals announced on Monday that they placed second baseman Jonathan India (wrist) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 30) with a left-wrist sprain and also recalled right-hander Luinder Avila from Triple-A Omaha. India missed each of the team's last two games before landing on the IL to begin the week. Now that we're in the final month of the season, it's unclear if the 28-year-old will be able to rejoin the Royals for the stretch run as they look to get into the postseason. In the meantime, the Royals top two options to man the keystone will be Micahel Massey and Adam Frazier. India, the National League Rookie of the Year in 2021 with the Cincinnati Reds, has only been useful in AL-only leagues this year as a middle-infield option. He heads to the IL with a weak .232/.324/.342 slash line, a career-low .666 OPS, eight home runs and 41 RBI in 124 games.--Keith Hernandez
