JoJo Romero Records Fifth Save
JoJo Romero closed out a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday to log his fifth save of the season. Romero allowed one hit and no runs in a 12-pitch ninth inning, extending his modest scoreless streak to five appearances. The Cardinals haven't named a closer since they traded Ryan Helsley to the New York Mets on July 30, but Romero has gotten the lion's share of the team's saves this month. The lefty has been effective regardless of role this year, having pitched to a 2.25 ERA (3.29 FIP) with a 1.29 WHIP, 45:22 K:BB, and 19 holds in 48 innings.
