Ryan Mountcastle Activated and Starting Against A's
Ryan Mountcastle (hamstring) was activated from the 60-day injured list on Friday and he is serving as the designated hitter while batting fifth in Friday's series opener against the visiting Athletics at Camden Yards. With Mountcastle back, the 28-year-old right-handed hitter should see starts between DH and first base. He has been away from the big-league team since May 30, though, and there's no guarantee he'll find his groove after struggling to a .246/.280/.348 slash line with two home runs, 15 RBI and 19 runs scored in 187 at-bats before his injury. But Mountcastle should play regularly with the disappointing O's the rest of the way, especially after both outfielders Colton Cowser (concussion) and Tyler O'Neill (wrist) landed on the injured on Friday. Mountcastle has never faced A's Friday starter J.T. Ginn.
