Seth Halvorsen Placed on Injured List With Elbow Strain
Seth Halvorsen (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a right-elbow strain and recalled right-hander Nick Anderson from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Halvorsen was pulled mid at-bat during his outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday and will now miss at least the next couple of weeks. In the 25-year-old's absence, Victor Vodnik and Juan Mejia might be the most likely candidates for saves in Colorado, even though Dugan Darnell came in to close the door on the Bucs in the 8-5 victory on Saturday. The Rockies are sending Halvorsen for an MRI exam on Sunday, at which point we should know more about whether he'll need more than 15 days to recover. He has an ERA just under 5.00 and has converted 11 of his 14 save chances for the worst team in baseball.
