Thunder Dan's best MLB player prop bets for today (8/3/2025). Bet his home run props (HR props) and win money betting on MLB player props, including
Hey, it's your friendly neighborhood Thunder Dan with some thoughts on which big leaguers might leave the yard today in our latest edition of home run prop picks here at RotoBaller. I'm pinch-hitting for my colleague Koby Hanson today, and I hope I can hit a few homers myself with these picks and help you to cash some HR bets at good odds.
To help find the best spots for dingers, several key factors should be considered - such as batted ball metrics, platoon splits, weather conditions, and park factors. We also want to ensure we're getting a favorable price with betting odds. In this article, I attempt to provide home run bets with as much value as possible, usually avoiding the most obvious options. Playing options with longer odds pay off when they hit, especially if you use the picks at a small unit size in a round robin format.
Below, you'll read about my favorite home run props from MLB games on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Odds for each pick are from DraftKings Sportsbook and are subject to change throughout the day. Remember to always shop around at other sportsbooks for the best price so you can get more value on your wagers. Odds can vary greatly from one sportsbook to another.

MLB Prop Bets - Today's Home Run Prop Picks (8/3/2025)
Here are all the hitters I'll cover for HR props on Sunday, August 3:
- Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers
- Pete Alonso, New York Mets
- Shea Langeliers, Athletics
- Colson Montgomery, Chicago White Sox
- Bryce Harper, Philadelphia Phillies
Freddie Freeman OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+425 DraftKings)
One of the best venues for home runs today looks like Steinbrenner Field in Tampa Bay. Not only has this stadium been very hitter-friendly all season, but we have excellent weather conditions today with temperatures forecast to hit 90 degrees and a nice 7-8 mph breeze blowing out to center field.
I don't want to pick on Dodgers' starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but I think we can take a shot at Rays' starter Joe Boyle, who regularly brings his fastball around 100 mph.
Anytime a pitcher throws that hard, the potential for massive exit velocity increases. No Dodger is currently swinging a hotter bat than Freeman, who has a five-game hitting streak intact and two home runs in his last three games.

Freeman has become more of a doubles hitter who hits for a high average later in his career, but let's not pretend like he doesn't still have an elite power swing. I like the odds we are getting here on an elite hitter in a great hitting environment, even if Boyle has been pretty solid overall this season.
Pete Alonso OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+255 DraftKings)
Let's stick with the theme of hot, veteran first-basemen and roll with the "Polar Bear" aka Pete Alonso to go yard against Giants' rookie Carson Whisenhunt. Alonso has homered in both of the first two games in this series and continues to destroy the baseball this season with some excellent batted ball metrics.
Pete Alonso absolutely DESTROYED this ball for career home run No. 250! 👏 pic.twitter.com/8RocwyigmT
— MLB (@MLB) August 2, 2025
Whisenhunt has made only one MLB start, but he was unimpressive, striking out just 13% of the hitters that he faced and pitching to a 5.16 SIERA. He's logged nearly 200 innings at Triple-A over this year and last, but has posted ERAs of 4.42 and 5.42, allowing 12 HR and 24 HR in those seasons.
I'm going to side with the veteran slugger to be sitting dead red fastball from the rookie and hopefully Alonso deposits that pitch in the stands when he gets it!
Shea Langeliers OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+350 DraftKings)
Another elite hitting environment I want to target today is in Sacramento at Sutter Health Park, where the Athletics host the D-Backs. Like Steinbrenner Field, this is a minor league field with hitter-friendly dimensions, and we have some very solid weather here, too, with warm weather and an eight mph wind blowing out to left-center.
I'm going to pick on the veteran lefty, Eduardo Rodriguez, of Arizona, who has a 1.75 HR/9 this season and 5.63 ERA. E-Rod is a fly-ball heavy pitcher (35% GB%) who is past his prime, and he could struggle here in this venue with how many fly balls he allows.
The @Athletics have won 7 of their last 8 games - and Shea Langeliers has homered in 5 of those wins! pic.twitter.com/PmsuNmb2Yx

Langeliers is about as hot as any hitter in the league right now, with five home runs in his last eight games. He also has some impressive splits against lefties, slashing .407/.407/.644 this season. Those numbers are darn good, even if we are only looking at about 60 at-bats. He's got plenty of power in his bat, and I think he certainly could lift off today against E-Rod in this spot.

Colson Mongtomery OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+600 DraftKings Sportsbook)
Now these are some awesome odds, especially for a rookie hitter who has been unconscious at the plate over the last two weeks. Montgomery has six bombs in his last ten games and will face righty Jack Kochanowicz of the Angels today.
Colson Montgomery's sixth home run since the All-Star break is a no-doubter 😤

— MLB Pipeline (@MLBPipeline) August 2, 2025
Kochanowicz is much worse against lefties, and while he does have a respectable 53% GB%, he's still given up quite a few long balls this season with a 1.46 HR/9 mark through 20 starts.
We have some favorable hitting conditions for the White Sox hitters today, too, as it's going to be close to 90 degrees in Southern California with winds blowing out to right-center field.
Let's see if the rookie can stay hot in another good matchup for him and these pesky ChiSox hitters!
Bryce Harper OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+300 DraftKings)
For the nightcap, why not target one of the best hitters of the last decade at home in a showcase game on national TV against another World Series contender? Harper went 3-4 yesterday and left the yard for his third home run in the last ten days.

He'll face Charlie Morton tonight, who is making his Detroit debut after coming over from Baltimore at the deadline. Morton has not been the same pitcher this season that he was in his prime. He's allowed 1.42 HR/9 and has been very bad against lefties, giving up nine home runs this season.
Harper has a career .400 average against Morton with a home run in 30 plate appearances. He's seen him plenty during Morton's time in Atlanta and I guarantee he will be sitting on a curveball, so Morton better not hang one over the plate!
