Jon Gray Strong in Rehab Start
Jon Gray (forearm) pitched well for Triple-A Round Rock Saturday in what could go down as his final rehab start. Gray threw 3 2/3 innings of one-run, three-hit ball with five strikeouts against two walks over 61 pitches. The 33-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors this season after suffering a forearm fracture during the spring, but he could rejoin the Rangers in the coming days. Gray has worked almost exclusively out of the rotation in his career, having amassed 223 starts in 228 appearances, but it's unclear how the Rangers will use him when he returns. He spent some time in relief last year (19 starts in 23 appearances) and posted a 4.47 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP, 86 strikeouts, and 28 walks in 102 2/3 innings.
