Building Budget in Tier B
It's another big week for budget building in F1 Fantasy. There are five leading contenders in Tier B to help managers boost their cost cap.
Fernando Alonso, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Nico Hulkenberg are popular picks in the game. Each driver is over 48.8 percent picked in the Global Top 500. The Haas pair of Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman are the new kids on the block this weekend with the chance to gain some budget.
Before practice starts, I prefer Ocon. Scoring zero points for a $0.6 million price rise is a great position to be in for an F1 Fantasy asset. Unfortunately, the Frenchman's recent record at Silverstone isn't sparkling to say the least.
We're just going to ignore Esteban Ocon's previous 3 races at Silverstone, right?
2022: DNF
2023: DNF
2024: 16thNothing to see here! 😳

It's a little scary to see something like that and then decide to put your faith in that driver. However, Haas has a reasonably reliable car this year, and Ocon has scored at least 10 points in three of the previous four races.
Kimi Antonelli: Tier B Driver
It's official! Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes is a Tier B asset in F1 Fantasy. This means he can rise or fall in price in increments of $0.2 or $0.6 million. Unfortunately, his lap one crash in Austria with Max Verstappen means the rookie will likely see a price drop for a couple of races.
This could see the Italian driver arrive at the Hungarian Grand Prix with a $16.5 million price tag and be a budget lifeline for F1 Fantasy managers looking to crossover to the 4A lineup. The 4A lineup is a term used to describe a team that can afford two Tier A drivers and two Tier A constructors.
Now, while Antonelli will be classed as a Tier B driver in terms of cost, he still has the car to be considered a light Tier A asset. The 18-year-old has scored at least 23 points in four races this season and has already shown flashes of brilliance on the Formula 1 scene. He will be one to watch for the second half of the season.

🇪🇸1a. Alonso
- Fernando gets the nod ahead of Nico this week because he has a lower points threshold for a $0.6m rise (-18 vs. -13) and he's cheaper.…— Euan Leith (@F1FantasyEuan) July 2, 2025
