Shane Baz Fans 11 Against Athletics
Shane Baz picked up a quality start in an impressive outing on Tuesday night against the A's. The young righty threw seven innings for a no-decision, allowing seven hits (two homers) and three earned runs while striking out 11 and walking just one. Baz is coming off a red-hot June where he pitched to a 3.26 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 31 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings, recording wins in four out of his five starts. His season-long numbers are not quite as strong, as he's posted a 4.33 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 97 2/3 innings (17 starts). However, Baz has managed to stay healthy this year, a feat that has eluded him in previous years. He's a former top prospect with a world of talent and appears to be rounding into form as he heads into the second half of the season.
