Ruben Ibarra Goes Deep Twice in Second Straight Game
Cincinnati Reds first base prospect Ruben Ibarra went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI during Tuesday's contest against Double-A Rocket City. This was Ibarra's second-straight game launching two home runs and second-straight contest tallying at least three hits. Over his last six games, the former fourth-round selection from the 2021 MLB Draft has been dominant in the batter's box, going 10-for-21 with one double, five home runs, 13 RBI, eight runs, and a 2:3 K:BB. Before this surge, Ibarra was in an extended slump at the plate, posting a .208/.322/.333 slash line over his last 16 games. Through 49 games with Double-A, Ibarra has held a modest .223 AVG but has shown power upside, with a .461 SLG and an .803 OPS. If he continues to find his swing, he will likely earn a taste of Triple-A in the second half.
