According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Georgia Bulldog linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. signed a four-year, $4.595 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia selected the Georgia native in the fifth round of last month's draft, though he was initially projected as a third-round talent. A five-star recruit out of high school, he was a three-year starter at Georgia, but saw his draft stock decline as injuries have become an issue for him. After missing three games over his sophomore and junior seasons, the 22-year-old sat out four contests in his final campaign with a leg injury and underwent surgery on a stress fracture in his foot this spring. Mondon Jr. has the athleticism and football IQ to stick on the Eagles' defense, and he fortunately won't be expected to step into a starting role right away. He was the second of three linebackers Philly drafted in April, joining first-round pick Jihaad Campbell and sixth-round selection Antwaun Powell-Ryland.--Alex CiullaRead More News
