There are going to be millions of fantasy football general managers in need of a tight end for Week 10. The dreaded bye week will sideline Las Vegas’ Brock Bowers, Cleveland’s David Njoku, and Green Bay’s Tucker Kraft, three TE1s that fantasy managers could certainly use as we cross the halfway point in the NFL season.

While the tight end talent has been thinned out as the season has worn on, there are still some solid candidates for fantasy footballers looking for a one-week sub at TE – or an upgrade at the position for the rest of the season.

Top Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Pick Up - Week 10 Waiver Wire

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Gesicki has always been a fantasy disappointment. He came out of college looking like a physical specimen that no linebacker or safety could cover, but other than back-to-back 700-yard years in 2020 and 2021, he has had as much fantasy impact as a WR5 or a RB6.

Now on his third team, Gesicki has finally found a team that can utilize his above-average talents and turn them into touchdowns. It helps to have Joe Burrow throwing him pinpoint passes in the perfect spots on the field. That is why Gesicki blessed his Bengals with five catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns against Las Vegas this past weekend.

Gesicki checks the boxes heading into Week 10. He has a Thursday night game against Baltimore’s 32^nd-ranked pass defense. Check. His backup, Erick All Jr., suffered a knee injury that could be serious and keep him out of action for a while, which means Gesicki will get more time and targets.

Check. Gesicki is playing the best ball of his career and has the hottest QB in the NFL tossing missiles into his chest. Check. Gesicki is the top TE pickup this week, no doubt.

Other Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Consider Adding

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Henry was the most-targeted Patriots pass catcher in Week 9 and now has 23 receptions for 234 yards and a touchdown over his last four contests.

Henry is New England’s most consistent player in its passing attack and has seen his numbers go up since rookie Drake Maye took over the offense. He will continue to put up solid stats, and his fantasy value has upward mobility if Maye improves throughout the campaign.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans

Hill is recovered from his random rib injuries and is the second-most dangerous member of the Saints offense behind Alvin Kamara. Hill ran for 19 yards and a TD and added four catches for 41 yards in his last game and will be taking on an Atlanta team this week that he scored two touchdowns against when the squads met earlier in the season.

Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders

Do not read too much into Ertz’s Week 9 dud that saw him be aimed at once by Jayden Daniels and only have a five-yard catch against the lowly New York Giants.

The week before he had seven catches on 11 targets. Ertz will continue to serve as Daniels’ safety net and sprinkle in good games among the clunkers. He faces a Pittsburgh pass defense this weekend that is surprisingly ranked in the bottom half of the rankings right now.

Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins

Smith has gone 0-for-30 when it comes to turning catches into 20-yard gains this year, but he has culled together a nice four-game stretch for himself the last month. He has caught 21 passes for 224 yards and a TD over that span and now gets to run routes against the L.A. Rams next Monday night, and we have watched that secondary get torched over and over again this season.

Theo Johnson, New York Giants

Give Johnson props for racking up yardage and fantasy points in garbage time this past Sunday. His three catches for 51 yards and a score probably helped thousands who took a low-risk flyer on him.

Johnson has amassed 30 yards or more in four of his past games and keeps showing skills that fantasy pundits probably thought we would not see until 2025 or 2026. Johnson’s matchup against Carolina’s 25^th-ranked pass defense this Sunday morning is a positive, too.

Do Not Forget About…

Ja'Tavion Sanders, Carolina Panthers

The rookie has failed to find the end zone yet in his young career but passes keep finding his bread basket. The promising rookie has had at least 49 receiving yards in three of his past four games and should have an expanded role now that WR1 Diontae Johnson was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

Grant Calcaterra, Philadelphia Eagles

Is Dallas Goedert ever coming back? If not, and if top target A.J. Brown misses extended time due to his new knee injury, Calcaterra will benefit. One thing is for sure, when Jalen Hurts throws the ball his way, he catches it. Calcaterra is 13-for-13 in turning targets into receptions over his last four outings.

Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers

The longtime veteran is coming off his worst game of the season (nine yards), so sounds like the perfect time to pick him up to me. Dissly is also slated to face Tennessee’s top-ranked pass defense. That said, he has 13 receptions for 122 yards in the two games prior and is part of a Chargers passing attack that is starting to click now that Justin Herbert is healthier and playing like the franchise quarterback he is.
