Fantasy Football Injury Reports for Tight Ends - Updates for George Kittle, Jake Ferguson, Mike Gesicki, Evan Engram

Fantasy football injury updates and injury reports for tight ends (Week 3) as of 9/21/2024, including TEs George Kittle, Jake Ferguson, Mike Gesicki, Evan Engram, and more.

With Sunday and Monday's games right around the corner, the injury report continues to grow. Most of the tight ends around the National Football League haven't met expectations this season. However, injuries at the position could make lineup construction more challenging for Week 3.

Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football. Now that the regular season has begun, fantasy managers should stay locked into the latest injury headlines.

Evan Engram Injury Update

Engram tweaked his hamstring during warmups ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Cleveland Browns. As a result, he wasn’t on the field in Week 2. Brenton Strange and Luke Farrell tried their best to fill the void.

However, the duo finished with only five receptions for 78 yards. There’s a chance Engram will miss another game. Still, with the Jags facing the Bills on Monday night, fantasy managers shouldn’t take chances if Engram’s status for Week 3 isn’t revealed until after lock time on Sunday.

With that said, Strange was on the field more than Farrell versus the Browns. But neither man can be trusted to fill a spot in any fantasy lineup.

Greg Dulcich Injury Update

Dulcich practiced in full on Thursday and Friday after logging a limited session on Wednesday, so it appears the knee and ankle ailments won’t keep him out of the lineup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 24-year-old has recorded only five catches in the Broncos' first two games, making him irrelevant from a fantasy standpoint, especially with Bo Nix under center.

Noah Fant Injury Update

Fant has practiced sparingly all week. Regardless, even if the 2019 No. 20 overall pick is available for the Week 3 clash with the Miami Dolphins, he won’t see much attention from fantasy managers, considering he has only three catches in 2024-25.

The same can be said for Pharaoh Brown, who is questionable, and AJ Barner, the tight ends behind Fant on the depth chart.

Jake Ferguson Injury Update

Ferguson had three grabs for 15 yards in Week 1 versus the Browns. Yet, he suffered a knee injury in that one and didn’t suit up in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Luke Schoonmaker took over the starter’s duties, catching all six targets for 43 yards. Ferguson practiced in full on Friday, so he’s in line to take part in Sunday’s matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

With that in mind, Schoonmaker will likely spend most of his time on the bench in Week 3, decreasing his fantasy ceiling. However, Ferguson’s outlook isn’t promising, either.

Mike Gesicki Injury Update

Gesicki began the 2024-25 campaign by narrowly finding the end zone in the Bengals’ Week 1 loss to the Pats. But he made up for it by amassing seven catches (nine targets) for 91 yards against the Chiefs.

At this point, the 28-year-old has gained streaming interest from fantasy managers. Unfortunately, Gesicki is battling a calf issue, so he may carry an injury designation for Monday Night Football against the Commanders.

If he’s not in uniform, Drew Sample will likely be the No. 1 option on the depth chart. Rookie Erick All Jr., coming off a four-catch, 32-yard showing in Week 2, could also get more involved. However, neither player has been consistent enough to warrant fantasy consideration.

George Kittle Injury Update

Kittle is doubtful for Sunday’s NFC West showdown with the Los Angeles Rams. To make matters worse, Deebo Samuel Sr. has already been ruled out.

Without those two in the lineup, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings should see more looks from Brock Purdy. At the same time, Eric Saubert is anticipated to take over at the tight end spot if Kittle is officially inactive.

Still, Saubert had only two catches for 26 yards in the loss to the Vikings in Week 2, so he wouldn’t be an ideal replacement.

David Njoku Injury Update

Njoku didn’t play in Week 2 because of an ankle injury. He also won’t play on Sunday when the Browns face the New York Giants.

Jordan Akins will try his best to fill the hole in the lineup. But the 32-year-old had one reception in Sunday’s win over the Jags, and it would be surprising if he is more productive than that in Week 3.

Taysom Hill Injury Update

Hill exited Sunday’s win over the Cowboys after taking a hit to the chest, resulting in a trip to the hospital. Many assumed he wouldn’t be out there versus the Eagles. Although there’s still a chance he’ll play, he’s currently considered questionable.

Of course, Hill isn’t a reliable fantasy tight end. But his absence could mean more targets for Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson, although the former is a safer choice in any fantasy lineup than the latter.
