While there is still time before most of the games on the Week 1 schedule begin, there is some concern about the availability of some of the league’s tight ends.

Kyle Pitts Injury Update

Pitts was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice because of a hamstring issue. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear serious, with the 23-year-old stating he should be good to go for Sunday’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pitts has appeared in 44 games for the Falcons since entering the National Football League. Yet, he’s only scored six touchdowns. But with Kirk Cousins under center, the former Florida Gator has a higher fantasy ceiling entering the season.

Ian Thomas/Tommy Tremble Injury Updates

Thomas has been batting a calf issue for over a month while Tremble has dealt with multiple ailments since the start of training camp. Both players didn’t practice on Wednesday, although that isn’t surprising.

They aren’t a lock to play on Sunday when the Panthers play the Saints in an NFC South divisional clash. While there are several options Carolina could go if neither player is active, rookie Ja'Tavion Sanders and veteran Jordan Matthews could find their way into fantasy lineups.

Both players would also see attention from DFS managers if Tremble and Thomas weren’t available.

Hunter Henry Injury Update

Henry ended the 2023-2024 campaign by totaling 42 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns. While those numbers aren’t enough to make him a viable option in every fantasy format, he’s still the Pats’ No. 1 tight end.

The 29-year-old appeared on Wednesday’s injury report because of a foot injury. However, he practiced in full, so he should be good to go in Week 1 versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Noah Fant/Pharaoh Brown Injury Updates

Fant practiced sparingly on Wednesday after suffering a toe injury nearly a month ago. But the team is hopeful he will play in Sunday’s matchup with the Denver Broncos. Still, Fant will have some hurdles to clear.

The 2019 No. 20 overall pick had the worst season of his career in 2023-2024, finishing with only 32 catches for 414 yards. Even worse, he didn’t find the end zone. At the same time, Brown, the No. 2 tight end on the depth chart, was also limited during Wednesday’s practice.

While neither player is expected to be featured in many fantasy lineups this season, Brady Russell could gain some attention for streaming purposes for those participating in multi-tight-end setups.

Brock Bowers Injury Update

The reception on Bowers has been mixed since the Raiders selected him using the No. 13 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, some expect him to be a top tight end to finish the year.

The rookie logged a limited practice on Wednesday because of a foot injury. Although head coach Antonio Pierce stated he would play, fantasy managers should monitor how things go heading into Sunday’s contest versus the Chargers.

With that said, it may take Bowers a few weeks to get up to speed, considering the injury was an issue throughout training camp.
