ANALYSIS: Another cog in the machine that is the Baltimore Orioles farm system, outfielder Heston Kjerstad, is simply a victim of too many superstar prospects and not enough lineup spots to go around. The 25-year-old Kjerstad ranks as the 21st overall prospect in the league on the MLB top 100 list. Kjerstad has already done two brief stints with the big league club, his most recent seven-game stretch ended May 11. In 20 total major league games between 2023 and 2024, Kjerstad has a .205 average and two home runs.
Infield positions are at a premium in Baltimore, but outfield is a different story. Cedric Mullins and Austin Hays aren't exactly lighting the world on fire and Kjerstad has been feasting on the competition in Triple-A. This season, in 44 games with the Norfolk Tides, Kjerstad has hit .313 while crushing 14 HRs with 50 RBIs.

Every win is critical for the Orioles as they battle the Yankees, who currently hold the second-best record in baseball, for the AL East title. The Orioles know Kjerstad doesn't have much more to prove in the minors and every team can always benefit from another powerful left-handed bat in the lineup. With all of the offensive firepower around him, he won't have to worry about carrying the team and can focus on his game. If Kjerstad gets promoted to the major league club before the All-Star break, a 15-HR second half could follow. Hitting anywhere in the Baltimore lineup is a gift; no matter where he slots in, there will be great hitters in front and behind him, which will also help fantasy teams in the runs and RBI categories.
