ANALYSIS: Guardians minor league outfielder Esteban Gonzalez was a diamond in the rough for the Cleveland scouting department. Originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Gonzalez signed his first contract as an international free agent for just $10K when he was 18 years old. He's a plus runner who can hit for average and not hurt his team in the field. Gonzalez has been enjoying a very good 2024, especially his last seven days, where he's batting .368 with two HRs, two triples, and one steal. Gonzalez still has a long way to go in terms of development; however, if he continues to improve, he could pay dividends for owners in dynasty leagues.

Gonzalez has played 147 career games over four minor league seasons and has looked like an old-school, prototypical, lead-off hitter with his .285 average, 13 HRs, 57 steals, 12 triples, and 137 runs scored. He wasn't listed on any of the top 50 or top 100 prospect lists before the season started, but things should change when the updated rankings come out. A promotion to High-A Lake County looks certain at this point, but his decreasing walk rate, 7.6% BB%, and increasing 23.5% K% rate do show a cause for some concern.
