Yunior Severino is a fantasy baseball prospect sleeper and minor leaguer to know for Week 11 (2024). Read MLB prospects outlooks for fantasy baseball rookies, call-ups.
PROSPECT: Yunior Severino, 1B, Minnesota Twins
CURRENT LEVEL: Triple-A
2024 STATS: 48 G, .188 AVG., 9 HR, 29 RBI, 23 R, 1 SB, 34.1% K%, 12.0% BB%, .177 ISO, .296 wOBA, 68 wRC+, 26.5 HR/FB%
ANALYSIS: Sorry for giving you that statline without some sort of disclaimer ahead of time. Some of those numbers are ok, like the BB% and HR/FB%, but a lot of the other ones are downright scary. It's not necessarily all about Yunior Severino's 2024 numbers, though, it is about the body of work. Severino's career minor league batting average is .268, which isn't all that bad for a power hitter these days, with a .345 OBP and .810 OPS. The switch-hitter finished tied for the most home runs in the minor leagues last year with 35 long balls (24 at Double-A, 11 at Triple-A).
So why are we talking about a prospect that is striking out 34.1% of the time right now and hitting below the Mendoza Line? Well, that is because he has heated up at the plate recently, and if he continues at this pace there's a good chance we'll see him in Minneapolis in 2024. Over his last nine games, the 24-year-old is hitting .361 (13-for-36) with three home runs, 12 RBI, five runs scored, five walks, a .458 wOBA, and 171 wRC+. He's still striking out a lot, with 12 strikeouts over this nine-game stretch, but that doesn't matter all that much if you're hitting for average and driving in runs.
He's starting to feel it. Yunior Severino has now homered in back-to-back games. He is 10-31 in the first 10 games on the roadtrip with 3 home runs and 11 RBI. This solo home run was his 9th of the season. pic.twitter.com/HnL2En4msV

While Twins first baseman Carlos Santana has eight home runs, he's batting just .215, is 38 years old, and is only signed through the end of the season, so at some point the Twins might want to see what they have in Severino at the big league level. If he does get the call, he could be attractive to managers looking for some power, and he's eligible at 1B, 2B, and 3B in Yahoo leagues which would add to his appeal as a waiver wire addition. Interested managers should keep an eye on how the slugger performs over the next couple weeks.

Chandler Simpson - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues CALL-UP ETA: July ANALYSIS: Unlike many players currently in the minor leagues, Chandler Simpson has proven he can be a valuable fantasy player at the MLB level. In his time in the majors, he hit .285 with 19 stolen bases in 35 games. Unfortunately, being a valuable fantasy player […]

Brady House - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: The Nationals went viral on social media this week for making a fun call-up. They called up their bat dog from Triple-A. While this was very cute and should improve the vibes a little bit in Washington, I don't think Bruce the Bat Dog will help […]

Samuel Basallo - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: Samuel Basallo might be the best hitter in the minors right now, and he has catcher eligibility. What more do you need to know (I know catcher is super deep this year, but still)? Basallo has been an age-to-level monster for the majority of his pro […]

Andrew Painter - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team leagues CALL-UP ETA: June ANALYSIS: Painter's last two starts don't give a ton of confidence that he is ready to be in the majors. It may not even be before the All-Star break before we see him, but that does not mean we are in stash territory. The good news is, […]

Colby Thomas - Fantasy Baseball Prospects Waiver Wire Stashes (Week 12)
BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ team leagues CALL-UP ETA: July ANALYSIS: The A's continue to lose, and Colby Thomas continues to hit homers in Triple-A. The A's just got swept by the Angels, bringing their record to 26-44. While plays like Denzel Clarke's HR robbery can generate a spark for a team, the A's might need […]
