ANALYSIS: Brooks Baldwin was drafted in the 12th round of the 2022 Draft, but is quickly moving through the White Sox system. The White Sox's 24th-ranked prospect came out of the gates swinging in 2024 at Double-A Birmingham, hitting .429 (36-for-84) in his first 22 games. The 23-year-old took a four-game breather where he went 0-for-17 and has since caught fire again, hitting .358 (19-for-53) over his last 14 games. He's shown both pop (11 2B, 3 HR) and speed (10 SB) along the way.

The White Sox have another prospect you may have heard of by the name of Colson Montgomery. Montgomery is the Sox's top prospect and is also a shortstop like Baldwin, so it's not clear where Baldwin's path to playing time might be. Then again, Montgomery is not forcing a promotion with his bat right now, slashing just .226/.344/.403 with a 28.9% K%. Baldwin is also capable of playing third base and outfield as well, so his versatility could be the path to playing time. Speaking of versatility, he's also a switch hitter, so that too could play into a promotion.
His current MLB ETA is 2025, but fantasy managers should get to know his name. The versatility mentioned above also translates to Yahoo, as the switch-hitter is eligible at 3B, SS, and OF.
