Double Gameweek 37 - Fantasy Premier League Tips and Top Captaincy Picks

The FPL Manual presents a comprehensive overview of Double Gameweek 37, highlighting top captain picks and outstanding picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

Manchester City's five-star effort against Wolves brought the defending Champions to within a point of Arsenal. The big highlights from Gameweek 36 include Erling Haaland scoring four goals for Manchester City, Nicolas Jackson scoring a brace for Chelsea, and Crystal Palace's astonishing 4-0 triumph over Manchester United at Selhurst Park.

The FPL Challenge continues to captivate, with the 'Shooting Stars' offering managers with players who received two points for each shot taken in the previous gameweek. As we shift our focus to the upcoming 'Are you single?' FPL challenge, players from single gameweek teams are eligible for double points this week.

The Premier League run-in has been a joy to watch as a plethora of FPL assets have picked up form approaching the end of the season. Join me, the FPL Manual, as I analyze the top fantasy players to target for Double Gameweek 37.

Double Gameweek 37 FPL Tips

Target Teams Fighting For European Qualification - Spurs, Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United

At this point in the season, we have four unique phases of the Premier League Run-in. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool are competing for the title, while Aston Villa and Tottenham are aiming for a top-four finish, Newcastle, Chelsea, and Manchester United are aiming for a top-six finish, and Nottingham Forest, Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United are battling for relegation.

FPL managers are strongly encouraged to target players from any club pushing for European football. According to statistics, Newcastle and Tottenham are likely to have a high combined expected goal involvement of 4.40 xG and 4.18 xG, respectively, while Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to generate a combined expected goal of 3.85 xG and 3.03 xG against their opponents in Double Gameweek 37.

In terms of clean sheet projections, the bookies favor Everton and Manchester City with a high likelihood of 38% and 42%, respectively. Nonetheless, Newcastle and Tottenham have an almost 30% probability of keeping a clean sheet in the opening game of the Double Gameweek against Brighton and Burnley.

Firing on All Cylinders: Chelsea's Goal-Scoring Surge

In their last three games, Chelsea has scored nine goals, keeping two clean sheets against West Ham and Tottenham, two rivals in London. Nicolas Jackson had a brace and an assist in the most recent game, Noni Madueke recorded two goals and two assists in the previous three games while star player Cole Palmer leads the goal chart for the Blues.

Chelsea's front line appears to have to have clicked towards the end of the season. Ignoring the opportunity to include either Nico Jackson or Noni Madueke in our FPL squad could mean missing out on a chance to gain an edge and emerge as leaders in our mini-leagues.

Double Gameweek 37 Top Captain Picks

The final double gameweek of the season presents a solid pack of fascinating options for your captaincy choice. Players like Alexander Isak, with 20 goals to his name, and the Spurs' top goal-scorer Son Heung-min all present strong cases. However, my top two picks would be:

Cole Palmer (£6.3m) - Chelsea

Recently voted as the Premier League player of the month and named winner for the best goal in the month of April, Chelsea favorite man 'Iced Cold' Cole Palmer ascends to the top of the captaincy list for Double Gameweek 37.

In the previous month, the Englishman scored 7 goals, contributing one assist for the Blues, and amassed a total of 59 points for FPL managers. Vying for the Golden Boot award with 21 goals to his name, Cole Palmer is set to have a field day in a double gameweek against Nottingham and Brighton, emerging as the standout candidate for captaincy this week.

Erling Haaland (£14.2m) - Manchester City

With four goals to his name in the latest match, the 23-year-old Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland has propelled Manchester City's Premier League goal tally to 87 for the season, securing his position at the top of the scoring charts with 25 goals. We're starting to see a rejuvenated Erling Haaland, focused on taking home the Golden Boot and ready to give it his all on the pitch.

Set to face Fulham and Tottenham in Double Gameweek 37, Haaland is looking to build on his previous success and clinch the Premier League's top-scorer title for the second consecutive year. Given his newfound form, the Manchester City forward is a leading candidate to wear the captain's armband this week.

FPL Challenge - Are You Single?

In week eight of the FPL Challenge, the spotlight shines on players from teams with a single fixture in Double Gameweek 37, all of whom are set to earn double points this week.

The challenge pushes managers to look beyond the six double gameweek teams and not rule out the remaining single gameweek sides participating. RotoBaller provides strategic insights on which assets to target for the upcoming matches.

A Closer Look at Key Single Gameweek Fixtures To Target

Fulham vs Manchester City

It may be time to avoid Fulham assets, as the Cottagers have failed to win against the Cityzens in their last 15 games. Nonetheless, Manchester City has a reputation for allowing late goals in recent games; if there were one Fulham player I could rely on for goals, it would be Brazilian forward Rodrigo Muniz, who might still be an appealing choice for the FPL Challenge.

Bournemouth vs Brentford

14 goals scored and six games unbeaten at home for the Cherries. AFC Bournemouth host Brentford at the Vitality Stadium with a chance to improve on their outstanding home record and secure a place in the Premier League's top half. Dominic Solanke, Justin Kluivert, Antoine Semenyo, and Marcos Senesi are the key players to consider for this matchup.

Manchester United vs Arsenal

Based on head-to-head statistics, Arsenal could be considered underdogs against Manchester United, as the Gunners have only secured one win in their last 16 matches at Old Trafford. However, based on current form, the story may be different, as Arsenal leads the Premier League table, and a win in this matchup will boost their chances of winning the league title.

One thing for certain: there will be goals scored in this encounter, as both teams will put up their finest performances; a win for Manchester United would aid the Red Devils secure a spot in European qualification next season. Players to consider for the Gunners with a single fixture are Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Leandro Trossard for possible attacking returns.

Everton vs Sheffield United

Despite receiving a total of eight points deducted for breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs), the Evertonians did the impossible by escaping relegation, recently securing four wins out of six games in the previous month. Everton's manager, Sean Dyche, received accolades and was named April's Manager of the Month.

Coming into this matchup against relegation favorites Sheffield United, a team that has conceded 100 goals this season. The Toffees could hammer the last nail in the coffin and relegate the Blades to the Championship division when they host Sheffield United at Goodison Park. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ben Brereton Diaz, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Jordan Pickford should all be considered for this encounter.
