Double Gameweek 35 Preview - Fantasy Premier League Tips and Top Captaincy Picks

The FPL Manual presents a comprehensive overview of Double Gameweek 35, highlighting top captain picks and outstanding picks for the weekly FPL Challenge game.

A fantastic Jean-Philippe Mateta, an excellent Kai Havertz, and a strong-willed Bruno Fernandes all scored doubles for their respective teams in Double Gameweek 34. However, the major highlights were Arsenal humiliating Chelsea in a 5-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium, Crystal Palace with back-to-back home wins, and Liverpool being stunned by Everton in the Merseyside Derby.

The FPL Challenge continues to captivate, with the 'Promoted Punt' presenting managers with players from Burnley, Luton, and Sheffield United scoring double points the previous gameweek. As we shift our attention to the upcoming 'London Derbies' FPL challenge, players from Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham, and Crystal Palace are slated for double points this gameweek.

The Premier League run-in has been a joy to watch as a plethora of FPL assets have picked up form approaching the end of the season. Join me, the FPL Manual, as I analyze the top fantasy players to target for Double Gameweek 35.

Double Gameweek 35 FPL Tips

Home Advantage - Invest in Newcastle and Manchester United attack

According to statistics, Newcastle and Manchester United are anticipated to generate 2.95 xG and 2.45 xG against their opponents in Gameweek 35. It is also worth mentioning that Newcastle United is also projected to earn a clean sheet in the upcoming encounter, with a high likelihood of 42%, which is joint-best only to Manchester City.

After a 4-0 win against Spurs in Gameweek 33, Newcastle have shown how dangerous they can be at St James' Park. Alexander Isak is the main man to target for the Geordies, as the Swedish international boasts six goals scored in the last four home games for Newcastle.

Not far behind is the Swede's teammate, Anthony Gordon. The 23-year-old English attacker presently leads the FPL points list among Newcastle assets, with 159 points. Newcastle is taking on Sheffield United next, a team that has conceded 92 goals this season. Another crucial home win against the Blades will boast Newcastle's quest for a spot in Europe next season.

Portuguese Magnifico - Bruno Fernandes Unstoppable Form

Leading the charts for most chances created in the Premier League, the Manchester United captain has been on a hot streak of form for the Red Devils. This is evident from his impressive performances in the last two gameweeks, where he garnered back-to-back double-digit returns, accumulating a total of 33 points.

Statistically, Bruno Fernandes has created a remarkable 140 chances this season, leading all players across Europe's major leagues. Beyond his creative prowess, the Portuguese midfielder has also been prolific in front of the goal, netting in his last five consecutive appearances across all competitions, more than any other Manchester United player.

With Gameweek 35 on the horizon, now would appear to be a good opportunity to transfer in the United skipper. As Manchester United prepares to face relegation favorites Burnley in their next matchup, Fernandes will undoubtedly be eager to extend his scoring streak and continue his influential role for the Red Devils.

Double Gameweek 35 Top Captain Picks

Cole Palmer (£6.2m) - Chelsea

After missing out on the recent clash against Arsenal due to a reported illness, Chelsea favorite man 'Iced Cold' Cole Palmer was recently spotted in training and is expected to play a key role in helping the Blues finish strong this season.

Cole Palmer is currently among the joint top goal-scorers in the league scoring 20 Premier League goals so far. As Chelsea is set to have a double gameweek against Aston Villa and Tottenham, Palmer emerges as the standout candidate for captaincy.

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) - Liverpool

A disappointing turnout in Gameweek 34 as Mohamed Salah matched his lowest-ever return for a Double Gameweek, managing only 3 points. Salah appears to be on the chopping block for many FPL managers. However, it might be too soon to give up on the Egyptian forward.

Despite not being involved in a double gameweek this weekend, following the 2-0 defeat against archrival Everton, Liverpool finds themselves in a precarious situation and will require every point to challenge Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

In his last 13 appearances against West Ham, Mo Salah has an impressive record, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists against the Hammers. Given his prolific history against West Ham, the 31-year-old attacker still remains a compelling option for captaincy this weekend.

FPL Challenge - London Derbies

In week five of the FPL Challenge, the spotlight shines on London's football clashes this weekend. With Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, and Fulham players all set to earn double points, RotoBaller provides strategic insights on which assets to target for the upcoming matches.

Top Picks For Each London Club

In the process of making your selection for the London Derbies themed game, it is important not to ignore other in-form assets who have easier fixtures. Top players like Bruno Fernandes, Phil Foden, and any of the Newcastle attackers facing Sheffield United are worth considering when finalizing your FPL Challenge team.

Nevertheless, below are a few options to consider for your potential fantasy team across the aforementioned London clubs:

Arsenal - Coming off an exhilarating win against Chelsea, The Gunners will not deprive themselves of another victory against North-London rival Spurs as Arsenal keeps pushing as title contenders.

The Spurs are without a clean sheet in the last five league games and will have a lot of work to do keeping out Arsenal's strike force who have scored the most goals in the league. Exciting options to have are Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and a double-up of Ben White and Gabriel in the defense.

Crystal Palace - The Eagles enter this tie with two solid wins, scoring seven goals across double gameweek 34. Oliver Glasner's Palace team is full of confidence and aiming for a good mid-table finish to the season. Top choices for Crystal Palace include Jean-Philippe Mateta, Eberechi Eze, and Michael Olise.

Chelsea - A humbling defeat to Arsenal hampered Chelsea's momentum; a club that had scored 12 goals in the previous three games was unresponsive against their London rivals, Arsenal. The Blues will look to improve their form when they face the Spurs who they have beaten four times in their past five meetings. Key players to target are Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Malo Gusto.

Spurs - With no games played in Double Gameweek 34, Ange Postecoglou's club enters this game with a point to make, as they face an in-form Arsenal side before traveling to Stamford Bridge to improve their head-to-head record against Chelsea.

Both games are very tough on paper, and the absence of clean sheets would not aid an appeal to sign Spurs assets, but top players to consider include Son Heung-Min, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and, if fit, Pedro Porro.

Fulham - Currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table, Fulham's recent form has taken a hit with just one win in their last five matches.

However, they have shown prowess against London rivals, securing a 4-0 win over the Spurs and a 2-0 away victory against West Ham in recent outings. Manager Marco Silva will look to leverage his team's experience as they prepare to face Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage this weekend. Key players to consider include Alex Iwobi, Matheus Pereira, and Rodrigo Muniz.
