Should I Start Chris Godwin, James Cook, Luke Musgrave For Week 7? Fantasy Football Outlook

Chris Godwin - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should I start Chris Godwin, James Cook, Luke Musgrave for Week 7 fantasy football? Start em, sit em picks and recommendations for the 2023 NFL season.

The bulk of the Week 7 NFL slate is finally here, meaning it's time for fantasy managers to make tough, last-minute start 'em, sit 'em decisions. Chris Godwin, James Cook, and Luke Musgrave are all names fantasy managers are curious about ahead of Sunday's games.

Godwin is set to face the Falcons, Cook is playing the Patriots, and Musgrave heads to Denver to face a terrible Broncos defense.

Should you start these three for Week 7? Let's take a closer look and find the answers.

Should I Start Chris Godwin For Fantasy Football?

Tom Brady is no longer the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; however, uber-talented wide receivers Mike Evans and Godwin are still members of the team. The problem is, however, current QB Baker Mayfield hasn't had the same success getting them both the ball through the first six weeks of the 2023 season.

Godwin is still a target machine, averaging a healthy 5.4 per game this season, but the production hasn't quite followed suit. His best game came in Week 4 against the Saints when he recorded eight receptions for 114 yards on 11 targets. But he has been under the century mark in receiving yards in his other five contests and has yet to score a touchdown on the season.

If you play in a PPR league, the 27-year-old veteran is a solid WR3 at worst, as he will consistently put up good numbers. He will almost never wow you with monster games and rarely finds the end zone, so set your expectations. But feel confident that he will provide enough production to complement the rest of your roster heading into Week 7 versus a below-average Falcons secondary.

Should I Start James Cook For Fantasy Football?

The Buffalo Bills certainly have one of the best offensive attacks in the NFL. However, over the past couple of years, they have struggled to find a consistent running game. Heading into this year, they felt that second-year pro Cook was the answer to all their problems. Through six weeks, it's been a mixed bag.

Last week against the Giants, Cook took 14 carries and turned it into a healthy 71 yards. That's the good news. The bad news is that he wasn't targeted once, and yet again failed to score a touchdown.

In Buffalo, Cook's usage is determined on a game-to-game basis depending on the game script, and playing the 24-year-old is certainly a risk. Because Cook's production is tied to the flow of each individual game, expect him to have a solid output this Sunday versus New England. There is a high likelihood the Bills will be winning by multiple touchdowns, meaning Cook could get more action than usual. Start Cook as a low-end RB2 or flex for Week 7.

Should I Start Luke Musgrave For Fantasy Football?

When building a fantasy football roster annually, there is one position that is always the most difficult to fill, and it's not close. Tight end.

Unless you were lucky enough to draft or trade for Travis Kelce, T.J. Hockenson, or Mark Andrews, you're likely frustrated with the production you get weekly from that roster spot. Here's the good news. There are some young and talented pass catchers coming onto the scene in 2023, and one might be Packers TE Musgrave.

The rookie out of Oregon State has yet to amass more than 50 receiving yards in a game this season and has yet to find the end zone, but he has shown signs of becoming a major player in the Green Bay offense. Will that happen? TBD. However, if you don't count Week 4 against the Lions when he was knocked out early with a concussion, Musgrave is averaging 5.5 targets per contest and is drawing rave reviews from his coaching staff.

Here's the better news. In Week 7, he faces the worst defense in the NFL when the Packers face the Broncos. Better yet, and even more encouraging for his fantasy managers, is that Denver has allowed a league-worst 13.7 fantasy points per game to opposing TEs. Start Musgrave with confidence this week and expect a solid performance across the board.
