IDP Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 6 - Fantasy Football Streamers and Free Agent Adds

Buffalo Bills Defense - Fantasy Football DST Rankings, Draft Sleepers

Mitch Blatt's top IDP waiver wire adds and defensive streamers for Week 6 of the 2023 fantasy football season. These LB, DL, and DB have matchups worth exploiting.

Week 6 is coming up, and there are going to be some exciting games and intense defensive matchups.

The Cleveland Browns, the NFL's No. 1 defense, face the San Francisco 49ers, the No. 2 offense. Something has to give. The Buffalo Bills defense, which is No. 1 in sack rate, faces the team that is allowing the most sacks, the New York Giants, on Sunday Night Football. Only two teams are on bye, but they are loaded with IDP stars: the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.

So if need replacements for your injured and resting IDP players, look no further. Welcome to the Week 6 edition of my waiver wire and streamers column.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Shallow Leagues

Darious Williams, DB, JAX

Against Buffalo, Williams continued his now two-game stream of making an interception. In three of the past four games, he has made an impact play of some sort--either an interception or a forced fumble. Last week, he made both, in addition to making seven combined tackles. With over 50 snaps in four of his five games, you know he's getting enough volume to contribute regularly. He is available in about 70% of Sleeper leagues.

Robert Spillane, LB, LV

The Raiders' linebacker room was a bit of a mystery going into the season, but Robert Spillane emerged as the every-down linebacker. That's every down; he's been on the field for 100.0% of the defensive snaps. He has been sort of boom-bust.

He made impact plays in two games, and those two games, including last week, were the two games in which he also had his highest tackle numbers. Last week, he made two interceptions and nine tackles. In Week 2, he made one sack and 14 tackles. In the other three weeks, he averaged just under seven tackles a game, which is not bad for an IDP impact player in his down weeks.

Ed Oliver, DL, BUF

For three straight games and four of the five games, Oliver has made at least half a sack. He's made 3.5 sacks in the past three, and he also forced a fumble against the Jaguars. Don't expect him to have many weeks where, like this past week, he made nine tackles in a single game.

He was on the field for 71 snaps, twice the number he usually plays, but he's part of the league's No. 1 sack-making unit, and he has another prime matchup coming up against the New York Giants. As I mentioned in the intro, the Giants are allowing six sacks a game, more than any other team.

DaRon Bland, CB, DAL

While Bland had an off day in Week 5 against a quarterback in Brock Purdy who protects the ball well, he is still a threat to make an interception and make a play on the return in any given week.

Eric Kendricks, LB, LAC

After having his bye in Week 5 and having recovered from injury, Kendricks, who made 138 tackles with the Vikings last season, is back for the long haul. He should be valuable in tackle-heavy formats if he can stay healthy.

Uchenna Nwosu, LB/DL, SEA

The Seahawks' pass-rushing specialist has made two sacks and two forced fumbles, though he usually only makes two to three tackles per game and is available in most Sleeper IDP leagues. He was also on bye in Week 5, so he will not likely be on your league-mates radars.

Devon Witherspoon, CB, SEA

He is another player who has been balling and is coming off a bye. He made five or more tackles every game he played, and he made two sacks and an interception he took back for a touchdown in Week 4. If he can keep up the impact plays, he's a candidate for DB1. Otherwise, he's still a start-worthy DB based on tackles alone.

IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Deep Leagues

Jerry Jacobs, CB, DET

In the past three weeks, Jacobs has been the No. 4 highest-scoring defensive player in the IDP Invitational. He's making nearly five solo tackles a game plus big plays on pass defense. He has made three interceptions and five pass breakups in the past two games.

Both weeks were against young quarterbacks (Jordan Love and Bryce Young), but he faces Jordan Love again one time, Justin Fields twice, Russell Wilson (who has a fumbling problem), and Baker Mayfield next week.

Nik Bonitto, EDGE, DEN

I listed him after his 2.5-sack game in the Broncos' shocking win over the Bears, and I added "the New York Jets next week also have a weak offensive line and a sack-prone quarterback."

Then he sacked Zach Wilson twice last week. Okay, he faces Patrick Mahomes in Week 6, so I am not confident he will make another sack in that one, but he's a player you might bet on in a neutral matchup.

Rudy Ford, S, GB

Ford has played 99% of the Packers' snaps this season, more than ever in his career, and he has put up 35 combined tackles, four pass defenses, and two interceptions. Last season, even with half the snap rate, he made three interceptions. Over the past three weeks, he has been the DB5 in the IDP Invitational scoring format.

Levi Wallace, CB, PIT

Wallace registered a pass defense for the third straight game. He has seven on the season and two interceptions in addition to 18 solo tackles. He has his bye in Week 6, but keep an eye on him if you need a cornerback for Week 7. He is more than a streamer.

Nicholas Morrow, LB, PHI

He had a down game, only making five tackles in Week 5, but he's still on the field for more than 90% of the Eagles' snaps, and he is still available in about half of all MFL-hosted IDP leagues.

Roger McCreary, CB, TEN

He is someone who broke out in the second half of his rookie season, and, as is often the case, late-round-drafted cornerbacks aren't always trusted going into their second year. He missed Week 1 and was dropped in some leagues.

But then he started making a huge impact from Week 2 on. He's playing in the box sometimes and rushing the passer a couple of times a game. That has led him to accumulate two sacks, three tackles for losses, and a forced fumble.
