Is Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers injured? Is he a good pick for fantasy football? Read up on this Fantasy Football Outlook for the rookie wideout from Boston College.

Baltimore Ravens coaches have raved about wide receiver Zay Flowers, especially after seeing him perform during the OTAs. They have proclaimed that the former Boston College standout is everything they hoped for.

No wonder they are taking caution after he suffered a minor injury. While that injury abruptly ended his practice session, it was not a severe condition. The 2022 Third Team All-American even participated during their mandatory minicamp.

But while Flowers has undeniable talent, predictions about his performance vary. Draft Wire's Natalie Miller predicted that he would break Torrey Smith's franchise record for most receptions (50) and receiving yards (841) by a rookie.

Conversely, Sports Illustrated's Michael Fabiano isn't high on Flowers based on the collective performances of past wideouts with comparable height and weight.

Flowers might not get enough touches, considering that Lamar Jackson must spread the ball to Rashod Bateman, Odell Beckham Jr., Devin Duvernay, Nelson Agholor, and Mark Andrews.

The Shift in Baltimore's Offensive Identity Will Benefit Zay Flowers

Hiring Todd Monken as offensive coordinator boosts Flowers' chances to showcase his skills. His presence will shift the Ravens' approach from a run-heavy scheme with Greg Roman to a pass-happy system. Therefore, Monken will use Flowers creatively if Beckham Jr., Bateman, and Andrews cause matchup problems.

On the flip side, Flowers might be their best option due to Beckham Jr.'s and Bateman's unpredictable production. Despite signing a one-year deal that could be worth up to $18 million, Beckham Jr. last played in Super Bowl LVI, capping off the Los Angeles Rams' 2021 season.

It's still unknown if the Ravens signed an old OBJ or the OBJ of old. After all, it's tricky to come back from an ACL injury.

Meanwhile, Bateman played only 18 games in two seasons, tallying 800 yards and three touchdowns. Injuries have limited his performance, especially last year, wherein he suited up in only six games.

The absence of those players can propel Zay Flowers as Jackson's best target. But putting on more weight will help him in the long run because defensive backs will jam and play him physically.

Being a flex option is Flowers' best position in fantasy football for now. Keep an eye on him because his speed and route-running make him an asset for the Ravens.
