Will The Giants Trade Saquon Barkley?

If you're a Giants fan, a fantasy football owner, or a big Barkley supporter, there are more questions than answers when it comes to the future of the New York back. Team General Manager Joe Schoen doesn't even seem to have a solid grasp on the situation himself.

The GM spoke at a press conference last week and told reporters that he hasn't spoken to Saquon in "three weeks". Barkley received the $10.1 million dollar franchise tag and wasn't happy about it. Many are speculating that this move has caused a rift between him and the organization.

When asked earlier this week how he felt about staying with the Giants, the 26-year-old simply said "Whatever happens, happens". Not very encouraging news for those that are hoping the tailback remains in New York.

Is There Any Hope That Saquon Barkley Might Stay In New York?

Last season, the former second-overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, enjoyed a resurgence. He stayed mostly healthy and rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns as the team won their first playoff game in eleven years.

There seems to be plenty left in the legs of the young star, seemingly making his trade value high. However, there isn't anything conclusive when it comes to a potential landing spot, and complicating matters is that Schoen doesn't seem to have any idea what may happen.

When the GM was asked recently if Barkley would be a member of the team in 2023 and moving forward, he responded with little to no apparent knowledge of the situation. " You have to ask him. I'm not sure. I don't know what the plan is". It sure seems like there might be a breakup in the near future for number 26 and the blue and white.
