Is Tua Tagovailoa The Dolphins' Starting QB in 2023? Fantasy Football Outlook

Tua Tagovailoa - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Will Tua Tagovailoa be the Dolphins' starting quarterback in 2023? Could Tua retire due to health concerns? Read the outlook here.

One word that is not attached to Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's job description is security. He is currently the lead dog down in South Florida, but those days may be numbered.

There are multiple reasons he may not be employed with the Dolphins much longer but everything is speculation at this point.

The NFL League year begins in one week on March 15, and plenty will be decided before then. Let's take a look at all the rumors and reports in an attempt to find some answers.

Is Tua Tagovailoa The Dolphins' Starting QB in 2023?

Tagovalioa is respected around the NFL for his professionalism, work ethic, and attitude. He is as talented as many of the top quarterbacks in the league, and with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as his primary receiving options, he has some incredible weapons at his disposal. The issue for him in his first few seasons has primarily been his inability to stay on the field.

Football is a dangerous sport, and injuries are commonplace. The one injury that an NFL player does not want to have is a concussion. Unfortunately for the former Alabama standout QB, he suffered two confirmed concussions (along with an additional suspected concussion) in 2022, causing him to miss six games.

There are numerous reports stating that not only are the Dolphins looking for alternative options at the quarterback position due to the uncertainty of Tua's health situation but that Tagovalioa may even be considering retirement. The former fifth overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft is still only 24 years of age, but head injuries are something players take extremely seriously and he may be forced to choose between his career and the rest of his life.

Will The Dolphins Look To Extend Tua Tagovailoa Or Find Another Solution At QB This Offseason?

The front office in Miami is in a difficult spot. They have a signal caller they believe in, support, and like. However, they are faced with the reality that he may not be dependable moving forward, as evidenced by his recent health issues.

Complicating matters is that there are other options out there for the Dolphins to potentially consider. Aaron Rodgers is unhappy in Green Bay, Jimmy Garoppolo is available, and gulp, apparently the GOAT, Tom Brady, is having second thoughts (again) and would consider Miami his first choice should he come out of retirement.

Free agency in the NFL provides the most exciting offseason of all professional sports. We don't know if Tua will remain in Miami, if he will be traded, or if he will retire before his 25th birthday. But settle in, buckle up, and get your popcorn ready because what's around the corner in the coming weeks is anyone's guess.
