Is Derek Carr Meeting With Multiple Teams? Which Team Is The Best Fit For Derek Carr?

Derek Carr - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Is Derek Carr Meeting With Multiple Teams? Which Team Is The Best Fit For Derek Carr? Which NFL team will sign Carr to play for them in 2023?

Former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is now an unrestricted free agent and is looking for a new team. Things didn't exactly go as planned in Vegas, and the gifted signal called wants a new home.

The 31-year-old and former second-round draft pick is currently visiting prospective clubs as we speak, and a decision should come sometime this month.

NFL fans and fantasy owners want to know where Carr will land on his feet, and which organization is the best fit. Let's take a look at his potential options and what makes the most sense.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Is Derek Carr Meeting With Multiple Teams?

According to the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Carr is presently in Indianapolis at the league's combine meeting with several teams, with the ultimate goal of finding his new team. He's talking to the Jets, Saints, and Panthers, each of which is in need of quarterback help.

Carr was supposed to be the driving force behind a Raider's success story. The team added one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League, Davante Adams, solely for the purpose of giving their quarterback the weapon that would put the offense over the top. Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan, as the team had a miserable season in 2022 finishing with a 6-11 record and missing the playoffs.

The QB himself was average at best last season throwing for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions while adding 102 rushing yards. According to all reports, the former Fresno State University star is taking this time to find the best fit for him and his family. The 2023 league year and free agency period begin on March 15, and all signs point toward a Carr decision by that date.

Which Team Will Sign Derek Carr This Offseason?

With multiple teams in need of an above-average quarterback like Carr, it's likely he signs somewhere soon while also collecting a huge payday. Many organizations feel they are a "quarterback away" from reaching their goals, and signing a proven guy like number four would go a long way toward accomplishing that.

The Jets have Zach Wilson but aren't happy with his production, and clearly want to make a change. The Saints haven't floated between Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston in the last couple of seasons, but neither has helped them achieve success. The Panthers and Falcons also are quarterback-needy and would love to bring in a guy like Carr to help them take huge strides.

The next few weeks leading up to the start of the free agency period will be filled with rumors and reports, and perhaps even some answers. However, nothing will be set in stone until players are legally allowed to sign their contracts in the middle of the month. One thing that's for certain is that Carr will be playing and starting in the NFL in 2023, the only question is which jersey he will be wearing.
