Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Chase Brown, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown had 11 carries for 108 yards and added two catches for minus-eight yards last Thursday night against the Steelers. It was the most productive game of the season for Brown as he went over 100 rushing yards for the first time since Week 9 of last season.
Coming into the game, he had just 304 total yards from scrimmage and one touchdown in six games. But he was able to find plenty of running room against a Pittsburgh defense that had been tough against opposing running backs.
His snap share also rebounded to 63.2% in this one after being closer to 50% in the previous two games. Hopefully, this signals better days ahead for Brown as the Cincinnati offense is trending in the right direction with Joe Flacco under center.
Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton led the team in receiving yards with 87 as the team stunned the New York Giants in an astonishing fourth quarter comeback in Sunday's 33-32 win. He caught six passes for 87 yards in Sunday's victory.
Sutton flashed some great chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix as they connected for a few big plays in the Sunday afternoon window with receptions for 22 yards, 32 yards, and a key two-point conversion after the Broncos scored their first touchdown. Just before that two-point conversion on that touchdown play, Sutton was the primary target, only to have the ball ricochet off the defender's hands into Troy Franklin's for the touchdown.
Sutton and Franklin would end up tied for targets on the day, but Sutton significantly outproduced him on Sunday. In what could be a shootout versus Dallas next week, Sutton should continue to be a confidence builder for lineups.
A.J. Brown, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring) was listed on the team's first injury report of the week with a hamstring injury and did not practice on Wednesday, according to the team. Brown's status for the Week 8 divisional rematch against the New York Giants this Sunday is now in question after he missed his first practice of the year due to injury.
The 28-year-old showed no signs of an injury in the Week 7 win over the Minnesota Vikings, playing 92% of the offensive snaps while going off for 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns on only four catches. It's unclear if this is a serious injury for Brown or if the Eagles are just giving him a maintenance day, but we should know more on Thursday.
After a slow start, Brown now has 10 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games. He had six catches for 80 yards on nine targets on Oct. 9 in the first game against the G-Men. UPDATE: Despite his missed practice, Brown is on track to play this weekend.
Deebo Samuel Sr., WR, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (heel) hasn't practiced much at all in the last three weeks due to a bruised heel that kept him out for the Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but it's looking like he might only miss one game.
"The plan is to have full weeks of practice for them," head coach Dan Quinn said on SiriusXM's "Movin' The Chains" about Samuel and fellow wideout Terry McLaurin (quadriceps). Samuel carried Washington's offense in three of the games that McLaurin missed and is tied with tight end Zach Ertz with a team-high four touchdowns.
He's the only receiver on the team with more than 10 catches through seven games, so a return on Monday night in Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs would be huge. However, Samuel's fantasy upside will come down a bit when McLaurin returns, and the Commanders could be without quarterback Jayden Daniels in KC after he injured his hamstring on Sunday.
Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) hasn't played since Week 3, but it sounds as though he'll have a good chance to return on Monday night in Week 8 in a showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"The plan is to have full weeks of practice for them," head coach Dan Quinn said on SiriusXM's "Movin' The Chains" about McLaurin and receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. (heel). McLaurin has missed the last four games, but Washington has won three of those contests. As long as he doesn't suffer a setback in practice this week, it appears he's on track to make his return this week.
McLaurin is typically a must-start for fantasy football purposes when active, but he'll be much more risky against a tough defense on the road if he's back in Week 8, especially if quarterback Jayden Daniels (hamstring) is unable to play. It's also possible that the Commanders limit McLaurin's snap count in his first game back.
