When Is Jasson Dominguez Getting Called Up? Fantasy Baseball Prospect Outlook (Week 19 Update)

Jasson Dominguez - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

When is Jasson Dominguez getting called up? Will Jasson Dominguez play in the MLB this season? Read about Jasson Dominguez's debut date and fantasy baseball prospect updates for 2024.

Week 19 of the baseball season is here, and top-end prospects continue to knock on the door, potentially ready to make impacts not only for their respective big league clubs but for fantasy managers, as well.

Certainly, young Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez qualifies. At just 20 years of age, Dominguez lit the baseball world on fire with four homers and a double in just eight games to kick off his big-league career. Unfortunately, an elbow injury and subsequent Tommy John surgery halted what was a historic start for the highly-touted prospect.

As he continues to obliterate minor-league pitching, let's check in on Dominguez's status and what fantasy managers could expect from the youngster upon his potential return to the show.

Jasson Dominguez Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

After a lengthy absence, Dominguez's 2024 campaign kicked off on May 14 at High-A, where he would hit .385 in a four-game stint at that level. He went on to hit .316 with four homers and a .982 OPS across a 10-game stop with Double-A Somerset. Most recently, despite an oblique injury that landed him on the injured list, Dominguez has hit .356 with two homers, two steals, and a .939 OPS across 11 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Clearly, the elbow is feeling just fine. Dominguez is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak with the RailRiders, with a pair of homers and a trio of doubles in that time. His prevailing .412 BABIP has nowhere to go but south, but clearly, Dominguez is surging his way through the minor leagues again.

The Yankees just acquired Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm this week, but the reported plan is to have him play second and/or third base. Giancarlo Stanton is due back from the IL soon to take over designated hitter duties, and the Bombers have superstars Aaron Judge and Juan Soto entrenched in their outfield.

However, the struggling Alex Verdugo could end up being the odd man out if the Yankees are truly all in. Dominguez represents a clear upgrade on the .237 hitter (.670 OPS) and should certainly be a part of this contending Yankees team down the stretch.

Jasson Dominguez Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

The upside is obvious. Aside from the power display, let's not forget Dominguez swiped 40 bases in 118 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season before getting to The Show. He has three bags in 21 games this season to go along with his 15 runs and 13 RBI. In other words, the cross-category production potential is to die for.

Adding Dominguez to the big-league roster would give the Yankees five outfielders: Judge, Soto, Dominguez, Verdugo, and Trent Grisham, with Chisholm as another option. That's certainly a crowded group, but there's no doubt Dominguez is in the top three of that group at the plate behind Judge and Soto.

Let's hope the Yankees do the right thing and get Dominguez into the big leagues as soon as possible to help themselves and fantasy managers alike down the stretch.
