Colts tight end (TE) Trey Burton is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 8 of the 2020 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: If you're scrambling for tight end production at this point in the season, look no further than Indianapolis Colts tight end Trey Burton as a potential weekly starter going forward. Burton excelled in his most recent game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6. He caught four of his five targets for 58 yards and a touchdown and also had a one-yard rushing touchdown.
It's no secret that Colts quarterback Phillip Rivers leans heavily on his tight ends. Rivers has thrown seven touchdowns this year and four have gone to tight ends. Burton has a bit of competition at the position as the team has received solid production from both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox (knee) at tight end as well this year. However, Burton might be the most dynamic playmaker of the bunch.
Alie-Cox missed the team's most recent game with a knee injury, but he was out-snapped by Burton in the team's two previous games. Doyle, meanwhile, had 39 snaps to Burton's 35 snaps in Week 6, but Doyle had just three targets to Burton's five.
Add Burton in leagues of 12 teams or deeper. He may not put up significant yardage totals, but he will be a touchdown threat every time he's on the field, making him a solid low-end TE1 option on a weekly basis.
