Fantasy managers, I can guarantee you that Davante Adams shares the same frustrations you have with his recent play. Multiple times on Monday Night Football, the All-Pro wideout was missed when he was wide open or Jimmy Garoppolo took a sack before he could even miss the throw.
Monday night's disaster was the last straw for Raiders owner Mark Davis. Head coach Josh McDaniels was let go. Offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi is gone. Jimmy Garoppolo is benched.

Davante Adams Fantasy Football Outlook
Adams is currently the WR13 through eight weeks in PPR formats. But the mantra "What have you done for me lately?" has never been more prevalent. His 42-point performance in Week 3 and the lack of a bye week thus far are boosting his spot in the rankings. He's only averaging 7.05 PPR points over the last four weeks.

Seven targets per game isn't a terrible number but it's not ideal for a wide receiver that was drafted in the first or second round of fantasy drafts. That's about the same amount of targets that Drake London, DeVonta Smith, and D.J. Moore are currently seeing. However, they are catching passes more often than the 50% catch rate that Adams has in this four-week window. Adams was also dealing with a shoulder injury in Weeks 5 and 6, which may have impacted his play.
Through the first four weeks, Adams was earning 12.5 targets per game. Only one other wide receiver has better than a 12-target average through eight weeks (Ja'Marr Chase).
Should I Start Davante Adams in Week 9 Fantasy Football?
Better days are ahead. Wide receivers of this caliber aren't kept down forever. With McDaniels and Lombardi out of the facility, the vibes are improved.
Will the team magically become a lethal offense and playoff contender with interim coach Antonio Pierce leading the way? No, but a morale boost can go a long way.
Adams will now have a fourth-round rookie quarterback under center. Aidan O'Connell started one game already this season (Week 4 at the Los Angeles Chargers) and peppered Adams with 13 targets. The future Hall of Fame receiver turned those opportunities into a respectable eight catches for 75 yards.
The new coaches in charge will make sure O'Connell targets Adams early and often against the New York Giants, who aren't strong in the pass defense department. Number 17 is still a WR1 across all formats and should be started as such.
