Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard was the 126th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Hubbard has an impressive college career, totaling 585 rushing attempts for 3,459 yards and 33 touchdowns in three years at Oklahoma State. He also had 53 receptions for 479 receiving yards and three touchdowns in college.

The former Cowboy had an impressive rookie season, totaling 172 rushing attempts for 612 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 25 passes on 37 targets for 174 receiving yards and a touchdown in 2021. Unfortunately, Hubbard’s numbers regressed last year, totaling 95 rushing attempts for 466 yards and 14 receptions on 17 targets for 171 receiving yards and two total touchdowns.

Following a disappointing sophomore season, many believed the former Oklahoma State star had no fantasy value this year. Furthermore, Miles Sanders signed a massive free agent contract to take over as the starting running back. Yet, Hubbard has played well, totaling 69 rushing attempts for 270 yards and a touchdown. More importantly, the veteran is the RB36, averaging seven half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

What Did Chuba Hubbard Accomplish In Week 8?

Hubbard had his best performance in Week 6 with Sanders out with an injury. The former Oklahoma State star had 19 rushing attempts for 88 yards and a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins, scoring 15.5 fantasy points.

Reportedly, the Panthers planned to give the third-year running back an expanded role heading into the Week 8 matchup against the Houston Texans.

The former Cowboys did have a massive workload for the second consecutive game. He had 15 rushing attempts and two receptions, leading the backfield in touches. Unfortunately, Hubbard had only 28 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards in the contest, scoring 6.4 fantasy points in the win.

While the veteran running back had a poor fantasy performance, fantasy players should add the former Oklahoma State star off the waiver wire. Hubbard played 45 of the 67 offensive snaps and had 17 touches. By comparison, Sanders played 12 snaps and had only two touches in the game.

The backfield will be some sort of a 50-50 split moving forward. Yet, Hubbard could be the lead guy in the backfield. More importantly, he has two appealing matchups over the next two weeks.

Carolina faces the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9 and the Chicago Bears in Week 10. Both teams have struggled to slow down opposing running backs this season.
