Quarterback Waiver Wire Pickups and Streamers - Week 16

Quarterback waiver wire pickups and streamers for Week 16 of the fantasy football season. Dan Fornek recommends QB free agents to consider adding off waivers.

Well, for a majority of folks this is it: the final week of the fantasy football season. You have navigated injuries, COVID-based quarantines, and general uncertainty to find yourself in a position to win your fantasy league. At this point in the season, you can’t leave anything on the table and need to do anything it takes to maximize the ability to win your fantasy league, including adding quarterbacks with advantageous matchups heading into the final round.

Week 15 is headlined by some very impressive performances by several guys that we have come to expect (Kyler Murray, Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen) and a few players that were a bit surprising (Jalen Hurts, Ryan Tannehill, and Dwayne Haskins Jr.). In total, seven quarterbacks exceeded 300 passing yards in Week 15 with another seven quarterbacks totaling at least three passing touchdowns. Unfortunately for fantasy players, some of the quarterbacks you have relied on this season like Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson fell flat in solid matchups.

In this article, I will be focusing on players who are under 65% rostered in fantasy leagues while adding a couple of deep sleepers for two-quarterback leagues (less than 20% rostered).

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Top QB Streamers and Adds

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

Yahoo: 60% rostered

Kirk Cousins continues to operate as a high-end QB2 as the season comes to a close. In two straight tough matchups against the Buccaneers and Bears, Cousins completed 48 of 72 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns with one interception on an end of game Hail Mary. Cousins isn’t the most explosive quarterback to roster and offers no upside in the running game, but he has four legitimate weapons in the passing game in the form of Adam Thielen, Justin Jefferson, Dalvin Cook, and Irv Smith Jr. He has a tough matchup next week in the form of the Saints Defense, but is still worth stashing. New Orleans has allowed at least 26 points in 11 games this season, suggesting they could be gotten. Minnesota may end up throwing to keep up with the Saints’ offense, giving Cousins a lot of passing attempts.

If your league utilizes a Week 17 championship, then Cousins has a fantastic matchup against the Lions in his final game of the 2020 season.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Yahoo: 38% rostered

Jalen Hurts has been an absolute revelation in his two starts as the Eagles quarterback. Since taking over for Carson Wentz, Hurts has thrown for 505 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions in the last two starts. He also features the coveted dual-threat upside, carrying the ball 29 times for 169 yards and a touchdown against the Saints and Cardinals’ defenses. Hurts is seemingly matchup proof and is certainly giving the Eagles something to consider as they look to the future for their offense. Hurst absolutely must be picked up in all formats if he is available in your league with matchups against Dallas and Washington in his next two games. Hurts is the definition of the league winner and must be considered a QB1 through the end of the 2020 season.

2QB League Options and Stashes

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears

Yahoo: 13% rostered

Mitchell Trubisky continues to provide steady yet unspectacular production at the quarterback position, but he has the Bears on a two-game winning streak and in the hunt heading into the playoffs. Like Hurts, Trubisky provides a level of dual-threat upside with his athleticism and scrambling ability. Since taking over for Nick Foles, Trubisky has thrown for 978 yards and eight touchdowns with just two interceptions in four weeks. He has gotten more involved in the running game the past two weeks as well, totaling 12 carries for 57 yards. Trubisky has definite upside in Week 16 fantasy football championships (or semi-finals) against a Jacksonville defense that has struggled to contain anybody’s passing game this season. Trubisky will have a Week 17 matchup against the Packers’ which is a good but not great matchup against a defense he has seen once before this year.

Marcus Mariota, Las Vegas Raiders

Yahoo: 1% rostered

With Derek Carr likely out for Week 16 (and possibly the rest of the season), Marcus Mariota is poised to show that he still has what it takes to start in the NFL for teams in 2021. Mariota had a very impressive game for the Raiders in Week 15 with no notice after a first-quarter groin injury to Derek Carr. The former Titan completed 17 of 28 passes for 226 yards and a touchdown with an interception. Mariota looked especially explosive in the run game, carrying the ball nine times for 88 yards and a touchdown. Mariota will have a tough matchup against Miami in Week 16, but given his conservative passing and rushing abilities, he is a must-add in the final round(s) of your fantasy season.
