Quarterback Waiver Wire Pickups and Streamers - Week 12

Quarterback waiver wire pickups and streamers for Week 12 of the fantasy football season. Dan Fornek recommends QB free agents to consider adding off waivers.

After a slow offensive Week 10, several quarterbacks were able to find success again heading into Week 11. There weren’t many big yardage performances with only five quarterbacks exceeding 300 yards passing (led by rookie sensation Justin Herbert), but numerous quarterbacks had no problem finding the end zone through the air. Five quarterbacks passed for three touchdowns with another seven finding the end zone twice. That doesn’t include first-time starter Taysom Hill rushing the ball in twice in his efficient first start with the Saints.

We have officially passed all the bye weeks heading into Week 12, but thanks to Thanksgiving, this will be a different slate of games. We will have three games on Thursday night this week headlined by an AFC North showdown between the Steelers and Ravens. Washington, Detroit, Dallas, and Houston will also be playing on short weeks, which could make their quarterback production suffer a bit.

In this article, I will be focusing on players who are under 65% rostered in fantasy leagues while adding a couple of deep sleepers for two-quarterback leagues (less than 20% rostered).

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Top QB Streamers and Adds

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings

Yahoo: 42% rostered ESPN: 19.4% rostered

Folks- Kirk Cousins is on fire. Cousins crushed it in a close loss to Dallas on Sunday, throwing for 314 yards and three touchdowns. It is the third straight games Cousins had multiple touchdown passes and now has at least 18 fantasy points scored in four of his last five games. Cousins also has thrown the ball at least 30 times in the last two games, mitigating the concerns about his usage in the Vikings' offense. It also helps that the Vikings Defense can’t stop anybody (Nick Foles excluded).

Cousins has two excellent matchups against Carolina and Jacksonville in the next two weeks, giving him a very solid upside heading into the fantasy playoffs. He is at worst a strong streaming option and at best somebody you can plug into your lineup in 2QB leagues to provide a solid weekly floor.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints

Yahoo: 42% rostered ESPN: 83.7% rostered (he is tight end eligible hence the difference)

Taysom Hill did a pretty good job of proving all the Sean Payton naysayers wrong in his first NFL start at quarterback. After a slow start, Hill ended up finishing 18 of 23 passing for 233 yards while adding 10 carries for 51 yards and two touchdowns. Hill may not look pretty, but he will continue to be a dual-threat starter for the Saints with one of the best pass-catching running backs and wide receivers at his disposal for at least two more weeks. Drew Brees was placed on the IR before Week 11 and from there it is anyone guesses when he can play again while sporting 11 broken ribs.

Hill has a decent slate of starts on the horizon, facing an average Broncos secondary in Week 12 before taking on the Falcons in a Week 13 rematch. Hill needs to be rostered in all league formats thanks to the passing and rushing threat he poses at the quarterback position.

Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders

Yahoo: 36% rostered ESPN: 37.8% rostered

Derek Carr gets a bad reputation, but he is truly having a strong year at the quarterback position. Carr is coming off his second excellent game against Kansas City, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns and one late interception in comeback mode. On the year, Carr has seven multiple touchdown games through the air, including three with three passing touchdowns. He also has seven games with at least 15 fantasy points scored, with four of those scoring over 20 points. By all accounts, he is an excellent bench option with starting upside.

Carr is staring down two fantastic matchups heading into the fantasy playoffs with games at Atlanta and the Jets. If you need that extra push (or find yourself trying to navigate injuries and bad matchups) then Carr is worth a spot on your bench and could find his way into your starting lineup the next two weeks.

2QB League Options and Stashes

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Yahoo: 28% rostered ESPN: 17.3% rostered

After an extremely slow start to the 2020 season, Daniel Jones started to bounce back heading into the Giants’ Week 11 bye. Since his disappointing Week 5 matchup against Dallas, Jones had three fantasy games with at least 15 points, including two with over 20. Jones also completed 66% of his passes for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns in that span while adding 254 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Jones remains a dual-threat quarterback in his second season and the emergence of Wayne Gallman in the run game has helped open up throwing lanes for him.

Jones and the Giants have a fantastic schedule lining up heading into the playoffs. Jones gets matchups at Cincinnati and Seattle in Weeks 12 and 13 before getting home games against the Cardinals and Browns. All four of those teams are allowing at least 19 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season while allowing at least 18 touchdowns and generating less than 10 interceptions.

Andy Dalton, Dallas Cowboys

Yahoo: 9% rostered ESPN: 3.5% rostered

Yes, Andy Dalton had an inauspicious start as the Cowboys' starting quarterback, but, a concussion, COVID, and a bye week were enough to set him right. Dalton threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns against the Vikings on Sunday and utilized his vast array of receiving weapons to the most of his ability. The Dallas offensive line is also getting healthy, providing him with more protection than he has been accustomed to in the early part of the season. Dalton isn’t the best quarterback, but he is a serviceable starter and should be way higher rostered than he currently is.

Dalton has a solid matchup against Washington (as well as the revenge factor for concussing him the first game) before being benchable against the Ravens. He’s worth a stash though with matchups against the Bengals, 49ers, and Eagles in the fantasy playoffs. Dalton is a great bench option with streaming upside in 2QB leagues from here until the end of the season.
