The Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara reports that the Houston Astros have placed reliever Shawn Dubin (forearm) on the 15-day injured list with a forearm strain. The team called up Triple-A reliever Jordan Weems in a corresponding move, and shifted Pedro Leon (knee) to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster. Dubin last pitched a third of an inning five days ago, so it's possible the injury occurred then, though it wasn't a retroactive designation. As of now, he'll first be eligible to return on Jul. 6. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss more than the minimum stay. Weems has a combined 4.66 ERA and 1.66 WHIP through 29 innings pitched in the minors thus far in 2025.--Alex CiullaSource: Matt Kawahara

SNY's Anthony DiComo reports that New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker (oblique) is slated to begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend. Per DiComo, Winker will operate as DH by the end of the weekend. It's excellent news for the former Cincinnati Red, who's been shelved with an oblique strain since early May. Oblique injuries can be tricky, hence the long layoff, but the Mets could use Winker right now with their lineup slumping. Despite a mediocre .239/.321/.418 triple slash through 24 contests, he appeared to be heating up before his injury -- raising his average from .196 over a five-game stretch. The 30-year-old is eligible to return on Jul. 4 and could do so if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.--Alex CiullaSource: Anthony DiComo

New York Yankees reliever Jonathan Loaisiga (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's outing against the hosting Cincinnati Reds with an undisclosed injury. The 30-year-old was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh and was able to retire Spencer Steer before running into trouble. Loaisiga walked the next batter, and yielded back-to-back one-pitch singles before a double cleared the bases and tied the game at three apiece. He'd then exit with a trainer. There's been no news on what caused him to leave early, so expect an update in short order after New York runs him through the necessary testing.--Alex CiullaSource: Greg Joyce

Detroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling (shoulder) was scratched from Sunday's Mud Hens game with an illness and was still feeling it a bit on Tuesday. He's scheduled to return to the Hens Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Vierling experienced a brief setback in his rehab assignment due to this illness. Still, it does not appear to be anything serious, as he seems ready to return to action on Wednesday. After missing the first eight weeks of the season with a strained rotator cuff, Vierling proceeded to have a setback with the same shoulder in late May and has only had 11 plate appearances thus far with the Tigers in 2025 after slashing .257/.312/.423 last season. Since beginning his rehab assignment on June 13, he has gone 4-for-20 in five games played. It's possible he could join the Tigers as soon as this weekend, but the Tigers may want him to continue to see at-bats, as he has not played a lot thus far this season.--Nicho RoesslerSource: Evan Woodbery

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Noelvi Marte (oblique) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga on Wednesday, MLB.com reports. Earlier in May, Marte felt something was off when trying to make a throw to first base after fielding a ground ball, and further testing revealed he had a grade two oblique strain. Marte has been out since, and just last week, he returned to live action, appearing in three games for the Reds' affiliate in the Arizona Complex League. He played a few games at third base and one at designated hitter. The decision to have him begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Chattanooga is encouraging, as it shows signs of progression from the injury. Marte could slot back in as the primary third baseman for the Reds, as Jeimer Candelario was designated for assignment earlier this week. In 73 plate appearances with the Reds this season, Marte is slashing .294/.342/.515 with three home runs, 10 runs scored, and 17 RBI.--Nicho RoesslerSource: MLB.com

Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Ranger Suarez (6-2) had a strong outing in Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to the Houston Astros. He pitched seven and 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Suarez took his second loss of the season on a night when the Phillies recorded just four hits. The 29-year-old is pitching to an elite 2.08 ERA in his eighth professional season. He owns a solid 1.03 WHIP with 59 strikeouts in 65 innings. Suarez ranks in the 99th percentile at limiting hard contact with a 27.8 hard-hit percentage. If he continues pitching deep into games for a contending Phillies team, Suarez can expect to rack up a lot of wins.--Julian BrookeSource: MLB.com

Texas Rangers outfielder Sam Haggerty swiped three bases in Tuesday’s 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles. After pinch-hitting for Alejandro Osuna in the eighth inning, Haggerty drew a walk and quickly stole second and third, later scoring on a Jonah Heim sacrifice fly. He also stole a base in the tenth inning after reaching on an RBI fielder’s choice. Haggerty finished the game 0-for-1. The 31-year-old has raised his stolen base total to eight with his first multi-steal game this season. If Haggerty can maintain his solid .276/.349/.429 slash line, his baserunning value will help him secure more consistent playing time.--Julian BrookeSource: MLB.com

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn launched his seventh home run of the season in Tuesday’s 8-7 win over the Chicago Cubs. The blast came in the third inning off Jameson Taillon—a two-run shot on a 79.9 mph slider. Winn also added a double, finishing 2-for-4 with two additional RBI and another run scored. The 23-year-old is slashing .256/.324/.391 with a .715 OPS and .317 wOBA and is showing modest improvement in his third year. His walk rate is up slightly from last season at 8.3 percent. If Winn can make more consistent contact to pair with his elite glove, he could develop into a long-term impact player.--Julian BrookeSource: MLB.com

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer exploded in a 10-6 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night. Springer broke the game open in the eighth inning with a 421-foot grand slam—his 11th home run of the season. The 35-year-old finished 3-for-5 with two additional singles and two more runs scored. Springer is now slashing .256/.354/.466 in his fifth year with Toronto, posting a strong .820 OPS. His barrel rate of 16.7 percent ranks in the 95th percentile and currently stands as a career high, showing minimal signs of decline from the veteran.--Julian BrookeSource: MLB.com

Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed pitching prospect Hunter Barco tossed six shutout innings en route to picking up the win over Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday evening. In this outing, the left-hander struck out six batters and allowed just five hits and one walk. This was a nice bounce-back for the lefty as he allowed four runs to Columbus in his previous outing. Since earning the call to Triple-A Indianapolis earlier this season, Barco has posted a 4.21 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP across 25 2/3 innings of work. During this stint, Barco has struck out 33 batters but served up a high 18 walks. Earlier in the campaign, the former second-round pick out of Florida held an elite 0.70 WHIP across 25 2/3 shutout frames with Double-A. Barco could be in the mix to earn a late-season taste of the majors.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Miami Marlins right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur was sharp in his return to Triple-A on Tuesday evening. Mazur was promoted to make his season debut in Miami on June 18 against the Phillies. In this outing, Mazur allowed four runs and five hits across 5 2/3 innings. However, the right-hander looked rather impressive in his return to Jacksonville. Facing Nashville, Mazur tossed six shutout innings. He allowed four hits and no walks. He struck out six. After struggling at the Triple-A level last summer, the No. 12-ranked prospect in the system has begun to take a significant step forward. Through 65 2/3 innings, Mazur has struck out 61 batters while holding a 3.29 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect him to be in the mix to return to Miami in the second half.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com

Detroit Tigers right-handed pitching prospect Troy Melton struck out 10 batters across 5 1/3 innings during their contest against Triple-A Charlotte. This set a new single-game high for Melton at the Triple-A level. The former fourth-round pick from the 2022 MLB Draft was recently promoted to Triple-A Toledo. Through his first 16 innings, Melton has allowed 10 earned runs. However, he has flashed elite command and strikeout potential, allowing just five free passes and tallying 26 punchouts. In addition, he has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his four outings. The San Diego State product opened the season with Double-A and held a solid 3.23 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP across 39 innings of work. If he can continue to find his footing at Triple-A, he could be in the mix to join Detroit late in the second half.--Andy SmithSource: MiLB.com
