Chase Burns Punches Out Eight in MLB Debut
Chase Burns had a strong major league debut on Tuesday, tossing five innings of three-run ball and striking out eight in a 5-4 win over the New York Yankees. Burns took a no-decision in this one, but it was a solid first start as he was able to limit a strong Yankees lineup to just six hits, and he didn’t walk anyone. The top prospect actually struck out the first five Yankees he faced, and struck out the side in the first two innings. Burns picked up right where he left off in the minors, where he was dominant across three levels, pitching to a collective 1.77 ERA and 0.77 WHIP while recording 89 strikeouts in 66 IP. The 22-year-old should be rostered everywhere and is a viable starting option for his next outing, which should come in Boston against the Red Sox next Monday.
