Welcome back, RotoBallers! We're heading into Week 13 of the fantasy baseball season, and the minor league schedule is in full swing. During last week's action, there were plenty of big plays and impressive prospect performances throughout Minor League Baseball.

Monitoring the top fantasy baseball prospects who have turned heads thus far is imperative. The players listed here are coming off dominant weeks and have significant long-term upside. Don't be surprised when these exact names are painting corners, mashing homers, and swiping bags at the big league level soon.

Savvy fantasy managers looking for an edge in their leagues should watch these players over the long haul, as they may soon be excellent additions.

Joshua Baez, OF, St. Louis Cardinals

Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 58 G, .319/.409/.548, 10 HR, 46 RBI, 44 R, 26 SB, 12.4% BB%, 23.3% K%, .393 BABIP, .435 wOBA, 163 wRC+

Baez's development in the Cardinals system has been slow and steady. Drafted in 2021, Baez spent multiple years in the Complex League and is still in Double-A during his fifth minor league campaign. Nevertheless, he's demonstrating plenty of power and breaking out in a big way.

The former second-round pick is a big presence, checking in at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds. For a while, it seemed like his hit tool was going to be a project, but he has turned a corner this season and is making quality contact. The power has always been there, and he's also an adequate defender in right field.

Last week at the plate, Baez went 7-for-14 with three homers, 10 RBI, four walks, and three strikeouts. He also put his plus speed on display with two stolen bases on three attempts during that span.

David Sandlin, SP, Boston Red Sox

Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 12 G, 11 GS, 4-3, 60.0 IP, 3.90 ERA, 3.14 FIP, 9.30 K/9, 2.85 BB/9, 0.60 HR/9, 37.8% GB%, .298 BABIP

The Royals selected Sandlin out of Oklahoma with their 11th-round pick in 2022, but less than 18 months later, they flipped him to Boston in exchange for reliever John Schreiber. The trade has gone down as a major win for Craig Breslow, as Sandlin has consistently impressed in the Red Sox's farm system.

Sandlin sets the tone with a 100 mph fastball, and he's able to slam the door with one of the best sliders in Minor League Baseball. The breaking ball is a success story as Breslow made a concerted effort to acquire slider-throwers in his first offseason at the helm, and the pitch has only gotten better as Sandlin spends more time with the Red Sox's development staff. He rounds out his repertoire with a cutter.

Sandlin added to his list of achievements on Sunday as he was the starting pitcher for the Portland Sea Dogs' combined no-hitter. The right-hander tossed the first six innings of the no-no, allowing zero runs and three walks along the way. He also struck out nine batters, tying his season-high. The 24-year-old should be a key contributor in Boston's rotation as early as next season.

Hector Rodriguez, OF, Cincinnati Reds

Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 65 G, .316/.378/.514, 10 HR, 37 RBI, 50 R, 6 SB, 9.1% BB%, 12.7% K%, .333 BABIP, .416 wOBA, 157 wRC+

Rodriguez landed with the Mets as an international signing in 2021, but New York flipped him to the Reds in a four-player deal one year later. Just 21 years old, he has been one of the better hitters in Double-A and has the makings of a legitimate top prospect in Cincinnati's farm system.

Rodriguez has shown significant aggressiveness at the plate, but this has resulted in success thanks to his strong awareness of the strike zone. He doesn't walk much, but he also keeps his strikeout rate down and isn't a major whiff threat. He puts the ball in play in roughly 80 percent of his at-bats, consistently hitting for power and driving in runs. Defensively, he projects as an average corner outfielder.

Last week, Rodriguez went 17-for-31 with three homers, six RBI, three walks, and three strikeouts. He also knocked three doubles and one triple. His bat should play quite well at the next level, and we could see him contributing in the majors early next season.

Tink Hence, SP, St. Louis Cardinals

Level: Double-A
2025 stats: 6 G, 6 GS, 0-1, 15.0 IP, 1.20 ERA, 2.93 FIP, 10.80 K/9, 4.80 BB/9, 0.00 HR/9, 46.7% GB%, .233 BABIP

The Cardinals picked up Hence as a promising prep righty in the second round of the shortened 2020 draft. He signed for nearly $1.2 million and continues to flash upside worthy of every penny, albeit after dealing with an injury at the start of the 2025 season.

Hence sits in the mid-90s with his fastball. The pitch is capable of setting the tone early on counts, but it lacks true putaway ability. His slider can get whiffs, especially late in the count, but he has trouble locating it from time to time. His best pitch, however, is his changeup. One of the best offspeed offerings in the minors, it generates effective late fade and misses bats when his other pitches can't.

In his first Double-A outing of the season last Friday, Hence went 4.1 innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, and just one walk. Despite the low inning total (and only 66 pitches), he still racked up eight strikeouts. As the righty continues to get stretched out post-injury, he should continue to turn heads with his ability to get batters out.

Franyerber Montilla, SS/2B, Detroit Tigers

Level: Single-A
2025 stats: 53 G, .265/.363/.382, 4 HR, 26 RBI, 33 R, 22 SB, 12.7% BB%, 25.7% K%, .357 BABIP, .361 wOBA, 116 wRC+

Signed out of Venezuela in 2022, Montilla has emerged as a high-upside middle infield prospect in the lower levels of Detroit's farm system. The 20-year-old has just 73 Single-A games under his belt so far, but his quality production has started to generate some buzz about a potential promotion to High-A soon.

Montilla's bat left plenty of questions at Single-A late last year, but that was over a small sample size, and he seems to have turned a corner this spring. He's delivering more quality contact, and his walk rate has also exceeded expectations. Cutting down on strikeouts will be important going forward, especially as a non-power hitter. He runs very well and possesses a solid glove, giving him a chance to stick at shortstop long-term.

Over just four games last week, Montilla went 10-for-18 with two home runs, three doubles, and eight RBI. He drew one walk, struck out twice, and went 6-for-6 on stolen bases. Undebatably, his best day at the plate came last Tuesday when he delivered one walk, one single, two doubles, and four stolen bases.
