Yankees Unsure If Matt Carpenter Will Return
2 years agoNew York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Sept. 16 that he is "not sure" if there will be enough time for designated hitter Matt Carpenter (foot) to return during the regular season. X-rays taken in early September showed healing in his fractured left foot, but not enough to allow him to remove the protective walking boot that he has been using since fouling a ball off his foot on Aug. 8. The 36-year-old didn't need surgery, but time is running out for him to return before the postseason in order to help fantasy managers. The three-time All-Star had really turned his career around in 2022 for the Yankees, slashing .305/.412/.727 with a 1.138 OPS, 15 home runs, 37 RBI and 28 runs scored in just 47 games before his injury.
