Yankees Complete Trade To Acquire Juan Soto, Trent Grisham
1 year agoThe New York Yankees have completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday night to acquire outfielders Juan Soto and Trent Grisham from the San Diego Padres in exchange for right-handed pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vasquez, and catcher Kyle Higashioka. The 25-year-old left-handed-hitting Soto will head to the Bronx and join slugger Aaron Judge in the middle of the Yankees' lineup as they look to get back to the postseason in 2024. Now the question will becomes, will the Yankees lock Soto up to a massive long-term contract extension to keep him around past the 2024 campaign? Soto hit .275 with a career-high 35 homers, 109 RBI and an MLB-leading 132 walks last season for the Padres, and it's not crazy to think his numbers at Yankee Stadium will improve. Grisham, after hitting under .200 in 2023, will become a fourth outfielder/defensive replacement in pinstripes.
