Will Vest Takes Loss on Saturday
Will Vest (5-2) took his second loss of the season in a 6-1 game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. Vest, who hadn't pitched since last Sunday, entered a scoreless game in the eighth inning and wound up delivering his worst performance in over a month. The 30-year-old right-hander yielded two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout to hand the Tigers their 12th loss in 13 games. Detroit's recent slide has led to fewer opportunities for Vest, who has picked up just two saves in three weeks. Even after struggling Saturday, Vest still owns a 2.58 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP, 51:15 K:BB, and 16 saves over 45 1/3 innings.
