Walker Buehler to Join Phillies Rotation on Sept. 12
Walker Buehler will have to wait a little while to debut with the club. Philadelphia plans to have Buehler make one start with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before it brings him up to take the ball against the Kansas City Royals on Sept. 12, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. The Phillies will experiment with a six-man rotation down the stretch, so Buehler's not going to push anyone out of their starting staff. The club's hoping to catch late-season lightning in a bottle with Buehler, who has struggled this year despite possessing a quality track record. After a fruitful run with the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2017-24, he joined the Boston Red Sox on a one-year, $21.05 million guarantee last winter. The 31-year-old fell flat in Boston, though, as he pitched to a 5.45 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP and 84:55 in 112 1/3 innings before the team released him Friday.
