3 years agoThe Carolina Panthers activated cornerback Stephon Gilmore (quadriceps) from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Saturday and placed defensive end Darryl Johnson (hamstring) on Injured Reserve in a corresponding move. Gilmore hadn't practiced since December when they acquired him in a trade from the New England Patriots. Along with linebacker Shaq Thompson, the Panthers plan to use Gilmore in certain packages in his season debut on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. But the addition of Gilmore, the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year, will be a significant boost to Carolina's secondary, which has relied on Donte Jackson, A.J.
